Is this a good product to be mounted outside in a cabinet?
A shopper
on Mar 21, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The motor and mechanism for this unit is very quiet and works slick and is super sturdy. I used it in a cabinet and mounted a piece of quartz countertop on top of it for in a kitchen. I don’t know if it would be rated for outside though. That would be a question for your electrician.

Yes, it should be fine. Just make sure there are no openings where water could leak right into the motor (which is not exposed and should be good). The mechanism is basically internal, so it should no need lubrication. I'd worry more about the TV!Enter

I have no problem with it outside in a cabinet. I put mine in an outdoor shed and attached the top of the shed to the top of the TV with the included brackets.

Where does the TV plug in?
Daniel G

BEST ANSWER: The TV cab be plugged into your wall where the lift plugs in, or better yet, on a surge protected strip where you plug in your lift, TV, DVD, cable box, etc. You may also want to add an infra red repeater so that you can hide all of these other devices , placing a single IR pick-up point for all of your remote controls which becomes visible when your TV lifts up.

Just as with any tv mount, even this one goes up and down out of a customer supplied cabinet, the tv plugs in and receives data from either wall, floor, or other sources. Hope this helps. Am thoroughly pleased with this unit. It is programmable stop up and at any height within its range of movements. Also extremly quiet. Russ

The TV plugs into a standard wall outlet or an outlet on a surge protector preferably. There is no plug on the TV Lift itself. Most newer TV power cords are long enough to reach the base with the stand fully extended. If extra length is needed to reach the power outlet, an extension cord or surge protector can be used.

Can the black horizontal bar/flat top bracket that seems to peek over the top of the TV be removed?
New User U
on Sep 23, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the top bar is optional and designed to be used with cabinet installations where the TV will lift from inside the cabinet. I have my TV tucked behind furniture and the TV Lift attached to the wall (studs) without the top bracket attached. So when I need to use the TV, it lifts above the furniture for viewing.

Yes, it is optional. It is to attach the cabinet top but if you don't have this in your setup you don't need to use the top bracket (nor the 2 vertical brackets which attach the horizontal bracket to the main lift). These 3 pieces are all attached with machine screws.

Can a soundbar be mounted below the TV, and lifted with it?
Daniel R
on Jan 11, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I plan to do that - it doesn't come with extra mounting hardware for that, but I am going to mount 2 aluminum bars to the horizontal crossbars in the back to suspend the sound bar at the correct height below the tv. The great thing about this unit is that you can set how high and how low you want it to go so if you mount a really large tv to it (I mounted a 60" tv) you can make sure the sound bar doesn't get crushed when lowering the unit.

I have an older Pioneer 60" TV. It's height is 38". Does this mount have the range to go from hidden in cabinet to fully exposed? i'm guessing it doesn't. From reading the specs I calculate travel limited to about 35". Is the correct?
A shopper
on Jul 7, 2020
BEST ANSWER: This mount does have the range to completely hide a TV and then fully expose it. It really depends on your cabinet size. The TV can shift on the mount and the bracket that holds the "lid" of your cabinet can all be adjusted so you'll be fine as long as your cabinet interior is tall enough to fit the TV plus about 4 or 5" for the base of the lift plus an inch for the top plate.
If you are custom buidling your cabinet, I recommend getting the lift first, mounting the TV, and getting measurements from that to determine the interior measurements. Of course, there is a point where your cabinet could be so deep that the TV can't travel high enough. You're getting pretty close to that limitation. It's hard to say for sure without knowing how the TV will mount and the size of your cabinet.

Given that the mount is mid point on the back of the TV the full extension of its depth is not needed. I have a 60 inch tv in a custom cabinet and it works great it will actually clear the cabinet by more than 2 inches.

How far from the wall does the lift need to be? I am planning to use the lift BEHIND a large "faux" free standing fireplace. The backside of the lift can up against the wall. As for clearance up front it is dependent on your tv, however you would need a minimum 8.5 inches due to the base of the lift. Your tv could extend that further.

What is the lift speed?
Harold H
on Aug 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: My installation takes just shy of 25 seconds (each direction) to raise and lower 28". I think the speed is just about perfect!
I installed an infra-red repeater just under the part of the cabinet top that lifts with the TV.. This way, I can turn the set on and select a channel as it is rising. The cable box and DVD are also hidden in the cabinet. The repeater, which only costs about $30, can control up to, I think, 10 devices.
Hope this is helpful. I posted pictures of my book shelves on the Monoprice website. The center section hides a chimney for a gas fireplace on the other side of the wall, and releases some heat into ther room when it is going.

Can I get a wired control for this lift? The box has a second port in it like a cat 8 plug, any idea what that’s for?
jamie f
on Apr 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I was able to figure this out today with some reverse engineering. The ethernet port is a contact closure and can be used to control the lift with a relay switch. I used a 2 channel wifi relay switch so that I can now control the lift using voice commands to Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. If anyone else wants to do this, you just need to know that Pin 2 is COM, Pin 6 is UP, and Pin 7 is DOWN.

They do not control the memory positions, just up and down. But the relay switch supports "inching mode", so when you turn a switch channel on, you can have it go up or down for X number of seconds. It works really well, you can use any Wifi relay switch, most of them use the same firmware and software from Ewelink.

I plan on doing this. Are the contact closures for the saved memory positions or strictly full up and full down? Also what wifi relay switch did you use? Thanks.

Can this be installed as a height adjustable wall mount? If not, any alternatives that can? Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, the remote has multiple buttons to go to preset positions (home and 2 others) as well as the ability to manually move the TV to any position from the remotes directional jog control.

It states that it included flat top bracket so the cabinet lid will rise with the TV. But does it also include a roller bracket for a flip-back lid option like I see on some other TV lifts??

BEST ANSWER: Try resetting the remote. Step 5. And then reset your positions. I had the same problem you are having and this fixed it.

Can you choose which direction the shaft vs mount faces? In the installation instruction it appears the screws go into the back wall of a cabinet. Am I able to screw it into the front wall of a cabinet? I'm wanting to attach it to one side of my desk so need front mounting brackets. Could I just screw it into the desk and flip the direction of the top section of the mount?

BEST ANSWER: The welded brackets block you from reversing it. It looks like a safety design for tipping forward. If you cut off the 2 top brackets from the tubing you can flip it but would need to find a way to anchor the top section to something as the tv will easily fall forward unless bolted to the floor with something substantial.

Would this be a good fit for the foot of my Bed? Looking to mount the base to a long board to keep the balance when it lifts and the Board would extend under the bed.

BEST ANSWER: Hello and thank you for your question. Yes, this lift stand can definitely be used by the foot of the bed as long as there is some type of support to hold it in place.

Can an articulating mount be utilized instead of just the tilt style? I would like to install this behind a corner bar, however, I would need to have the ability to adjust side to side, not just the tilt, for optimal viewing.

BEST ANSWER: Hello and thank you for your question. It may not be possible and would not be recommended if you found a full motion mount that fits, as it could be to much stress on the motor and lift.

Another great product from Monoprice!
Very nice lift. Does exactly what it's supposed to do, very quiet, and, super smooth motion up and down. Haven't figured out the memory buttons for the one touch operating yet but that's because everything else, assembly and startup, was so intuitive.
Installed in custom cabinet in our RV, lifting 55" Samsung.

Great value, solid construction, quiet motor!
Works great with a 65? LG TV. Very impressed with the build quality and how quiet the motor is. Would be nice if the TV mounting had some tilt capability. All the hardware works great. The only main complaint is minor - would be nice to have a quick release option to secure the TV brackets to the mounting plate on the lift (this model uses long screws that need to be fully extended to secure the bottom of the mounting brackets. Overall, I?m very satisfied with this product! 10 of 10.

NOT an IR remote controller
False and inaccurate product description. I even checked with Monoprice before purchasing and was assured that it came with an IR remote controller. It does not. It comes with a cheap RF controller that cannot be used with any universal or typical home theatre controllers such as Harmony etc. Numerous contacts to Monoprice have gone unanswered. Very poor customer service.
I think the lift could be great but it will not work with my installation without the IR remote controller.
