The schematic says there is 18.9 inches between supports (width) and the "Full specs" tab says there is 20.9 inches between supports; which is correct?

Monolith by Monoprice Heavy Duty 4 Tier Audio Stand XL, 1" Shelf Thickness, Espresso
Monolith by Monoprice Heavy Duty 4 Tier Audio Stand XL, 1" Shelf Thickness, Maple
So they are both correct but measured from different points. From inside edge of support to inside edge of support the width is 18.9 inches. measured from the centerline of each support the width is 20.9 inches. If your component is < 18.9 inches in width you will be able to slide it straight in.

I just took a 19" rackmount bracket and layed it on one of the shelves.
It is just slightly wider than the space between the supports. I'd say
the 18.9" spec is the correct one.

Can you stack multiple units to make a single higher stereo rack?
A shopper
on Oct 11, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Although I have purchased two stands and mixed the heights, I have never tried to build one higher than four shelves. Having said that, you certainly could build one with more than four shelves. The shelves and legs are very sturdy and can definitely hold the additional weight, within reason. These are great, affordable stands. Enjoy!

Yes, but not all shelf spacers work for this. The shortest ones can only be used on the bottom. I bought 3 and combined them to make 2 racks of varying heights. I really like them. Much cheaper and sturdier than a standard rack and the airflow is good as well.

You can, to some extent, but I wouldn’t recommend it. You could always buy a second rack and use parts from that to add an extra shells. That’s the most I would do, to avoid any potential for the rack tipping over.

Are the leg tubes fillable with sand or other dense vibration free material?

Monolith by Monoprice Heavy Duty 4 Tier Audio Stand XL, 1" Shelf Thickness, Black
Monolith by Monoprice 4 Tier Audio Stand, 0.60 Shelf Thickness, Black
BEST ANSWER: It has been a while since I assembled my stand. I don't recall that the leg tubes are fillable. What I recall is that the bolts that connect the tubes screw into sealed sockets, so I don't think there is a way to fill the tubes. But even if there are openings you could use to fill the tubes, you'd need to be very careful during assembly to keep from having sand leak out. I'm happy with the stand, but I'm only using it to hold an receiver and a streaming device, so vibration isn't an issue.

I know this stand is adjustable (height). I would like to know the height with three tiers and the height with two tiers?
John L
on Aug 5, 2022
BEST ANSWER: The bottom shelf has a wider gap then the rest of them so that means there are 2 different measurements for both heights you are asking because you can assemble it 2 different ways with the tiers you are asking about. I just measured and if you assemble like the picture with bigger gap at bottom shelf then it measures 23 1/4" to the top of shelf 3 and is 15" to the top of shelf 2. But if you build with just the top 3 shelves and equal distance between shelves then it would be 22" to the top of the third shelf and 13 3/4" to the top of 2 shelf system. Hope that helps, and also you probably have a 1/2" variance with those measurements because it has leg levelers on the bottom which you can adjust or remove completely.

To my knowledge, Monoprice does not offer stand-alone posts in varying sizes. I have purchased 2 of the 4-tier XL stands, and employed the longer posts (for amplifiers) from one unit and installed it on my primary stand. In my case, this configuration works well, allowing one stand to have 2 wider distance shelves. The standard shorter posts installed on the second unit allow plenty of room for other smaller, less heat intensive audio components. You may be interested to know that I was unsuccessful in swapping out posts sported by the less expensive Monoprice stand or competitor units; the interior post diameters did not match or provide the stability I need for my components. As a final note, I absolutely love the performance and appearance of the Monolith 4 Tier Stand, XL.

Hey Ron, I don't see why not as long as Monoprice offeres longer posts or you can find your own with the proper threadings in the posts and they can hold the weight of yoyr components. When assembling, I remember all the posts looking the same with just the length being different.

The shelf with the metal support should have 6 holes correct? Mine only has 4.
Alex Y
on Jun 21, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the 4 Tier Audio Stand XL (Extra Large) reinforced shelf should have six (6) holes. The standard configuration is designed to have the third shelf with six holes immediately above the bottom fourth reinforced shelf with 6 holes. For your reference, the separate amplifier reinforced XL stand has only four (4) holes; it may be that a packing error occurred with your 4-tier XL stand. As you are probably aware, the standard and less expense 4-tier unit has no reinforced shelves and each shelf has 4 holes. I own all 3 Monolith models, and consider them the best value to house audio components.

I need the top shelf to have the 8.9 inch gap, not the bottom. Is it possible to set this stand up that way?
RV only. Not for home back up
on Nov 11, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can be done easy like that. The shelve can't be flipped, it has to be with the board one side up always, but what you can do is put the metal round corner tubes at any level you want. In this way you can configure the larger space to be at top, middle or bottom. The tubes are hollow and threaded at both ends and there is a pack of threaded rods. That's why you can make it however you want. I almost put it at the top myself, but my Marantz fits just fine on smaller space.

Can you add one or TWO of the XL amp stand shelves to this kit in order to have shorter heights within the stack and reduce overall height? I need 4 or 5 shelves total but some of my gear only needs 4-5 inches between shelves. Ideally I could remove one of the stock shelves and insert two of the amp stand kits. Lastly, if possible, does it matter where in the stack I place these amp stand shelves?
Bruce M
on Jan 20, 2023
Yes, you can mix and match levels and kits. I ordered extra kits in order to have reduced height units. Just beware that bottom shelves have additional holes for the extra support posts so these shelves can't really be used in other positions (or they can but you will have 2 holes in your shelves). I have multiple stands that are 5 shelf and all lower height.

According to the specs it says 7.3" x 2 and 8.9" x 1 with the larger one being on the bottom but can be customized to a different location during assembly.

If you read the rack description right here on the Monoprice website it says "the shelf with the support bar can hold up to 150 pounds". You can place the shelf with the support bar at any of the four positions. Total weight capacity for this rack as listed here in the specs is 350 pounds.

I believe it’s 1/4’x20, but it could be the metric equivalent. The whole stand is very robust and looks great, and arrived with all of its parts. Having built custom studio furniture this unit is well worth it’s cost.

BEST ANSWER: These new stands have shelves that are larger in size, the individual shelves are thicker and sturdier, and there is an support bar that comes included so it can hold up some of the heavier components.

When will the full description and specs be available for the XL audio stands? What are the dimensions including individual shelf and overall height? What is the weight limit? Can it be mixed and matched with the standard version? TY.

Solid, attractive, affordable
What can't this stand hold? This is a great stand that was easy to put together. I have a couple of mono block amps on the bottom shelf, a preamp above, then a CD player, and on top a turntable. Put two of these side by side for a home theater shelf system that could accommodate a 50 inch television. All you'd need is a simple riser on top to create a space for your center channel speaker, and that is easy to cheaply construct.

Well built budget rack, way better than expected.
Heavy duty, easy assembly, looks great. Curved shelves allow cords to pass. Adjustable feet. Fits full sized HiFi components. Easy to recommend this rack.

Really nice, Love it, Sturdy.
I use mine holding E7 Amp on the bottom (more) Sturdy / weight capacity shelf. Also better to have the heaviest on the bottom, so I've been told.
then 1 shelf up,
Preamp
then 1 shelf up,
Blu-ray player.
Top shelf; open for whatever else.
Pretty simple to put together. May need help moving it into place.. just easier. Decide how/where you want it before putting all your gear on it(obviously?); which will make it a lot heavier.

Overall Very Happy with Them.
I bought two of these since they?re higher up and I?m having trouble bending over and my system is complicated so they?ve enabled me to split it up so I don?t have to bend down nearly as far. They were also inexpensive and very rigid and well-made and I might get a third one if my system grows. The multiple racks leaves me flexible which I also like but the could look sharper although they aren?t ugly, just neutral which is fine by me.
