If I cut one end off and wire to a punch down keystone jack, should I use the Cat6a or Cat6b wiring?

BEST ANSWER: I assume you mean T568A or T568B?
Of course the answer means “it depends”
T568A is an older standard, however most
equipment from the late 90’s will auto sense,
so it doesn’t matter as much as it used to.
As an alternative, look at the plug that remains
It’s T568B. Good Luck

Any cat6 is fine but the thing to verify is that it’s solid core wire. Most factory patch cables use stranded wires.

Cat 6. Cat 6a is a different, higher speed spec than Cat 6. There is no Cat 6b standard. I think you may be referring to T568A vs T568B pin assignments with your connector.

Plug retainer protection - is a pain
I specifically ordered the connectors without the plug retain protectors. But I received all the cables with that PAIN. This is a very bad design. Unplugging the cable is panful. I don't care if it is more expensive and I DO NOT WANT that retainer protector in ANY of my cables.

Exactly what I needed
I needed several 5' Cat 6 cables for connecting my computer and a NAS to my router.. I also needed to be able to identify each cable at a glance. I purchased this cable in a couple of different colors for just over a dollar per copy. The cables are just what I needed - Perfect!

Retired Vet Affairs IT Specialist
I have dealt with Monoprice for several years now ever since my son also in IT turned me on to them. I purchased both bulk and pre-terminated cables from them and have never been disappointed. The price is great especially for the quality of the product. Have never had a new cable fail. Delivery is always on time

Excellent quality
Monoprice sells the highest quality cables at reasonable prices. Most of the local stores charge a great deal more for lesser-quality cables. The Ethernet cables work perfectly in my gigabit system.
