Can this speaker wire be used for a car audio system ?

BEST ANSWER: You could use this in a car audio , But I would not since it is not weather proof. Car get hot/cold and wet. This is for inside walls in a house. Temperature extremes are much smaller and it should not get wet unless something bad happened to the house.

I used this for my home audio because it is in-wall rated, I’ve not used it for car audio. I think it would definitely transmit the signal, but I don’t think it is as well protected from abrasion as car audio cable.

Yes. But why would you. Because this is in-wall Wire it is thicker than other speaker wire of same gauge. And that will make it more difficult to route through and under things and to conceal it.

Yes absolutely, since it's jacketed it has the extra level of protection as you run it though body panels, under the dash, etc.

I am using it outside and it works well. It should be protected and would not do well with direct exposure to oil\gas

Would this be good speaker wire for using them underground to wire outdoor rock speakers?

BEST ANSWER: CL2 IS rated high enough, however CL3 is rated slightly higher (fire resistant) for outdoor use. not hard to look up for more research. monoprice wire is what i use, as it is of very good quality. research what your needs are as far as Gauge vs length of run combined with power output. not really very intimidating. i'm using 14 gauge (in interior walls) with 80 w p c output. runs are 50' max. if you are carrying anything further, possibly 12 gauge MAY be necessary. however, 14 is sufficient for my use. hope this is helpful.

ENo. This cable is rated for in wall use and meets the fire code for that purpose. Low voltage cable to be buried outside carries a different rating, which if memory serves, should be UF-B. The principal difference is that the sheathing is not designed for the exterior environment on the CL2 cable.nter an answer to this question.

Will the 14 gauge speaker wire work with led under cabinet lighting?

BEST ANSWER: It'll work fine, yes, but I don't recommend using it because the jacket isn't very flexible. Runs under the trim and in tight spots will be a pain. Would recommend the Choice Series wiring which is also pure copper over this for car audio.

BEST ANSWER: If so not easily, maybe try a little rubbing alcohol to remove it. Anything harsher will probably eat away at the outer jacket.

I purchased a couple of spools of this cable for all of my in-wall speakers. I was planning to use it with my subwoofers (2) as well, but I know I'll need some adapters to get the two banana plugs into the RCA slots on the back of my Onkyo receiver. Of course, now I discover that there's such a thing as "subwoofer cable" (#hometheaternoob). Can anyone weigh in as to whether this cable will be sufficient for subwoofer connections? My 5 speakers are from the Alpha line here at Monoprice, and the 2 subs are identical: "Monolith by Monoprice THX Certified 8in 150-watt Powered Subwoofer."

Great price, great cable
I bought two 100' spools of 14AWG wire for installing four ceiling speakers in my home theater room. The labeling on the wire includes foot markings (as you can see if you look at the online photo of the spooled cable), so that made cutting them in half easy. This was my first try at fishing cables and it all worked well. Perhaps I didn't need 14AWG given the length of my runs, but I'd rather err on the side of caution. Wire quality is good, price was great, and shipping was quick. Thanks!

Great wire at a great price
This wire has worked great for all the home theater installations I have done (including my own home) and my customers love the fact they don't have to spend so much for a great quality wire for their needs.
