When inquired on phone I was told it is CL2 rated wire, but could not see anything on the wire. Is Choice Series 12 AWG wire a CL2 rated wire?

So this is not CL2 rated? I made the same mistake and ordered for in-wall pre wiring in my now home. The category does say in-wall.

BEST ANSWER: I am using a coax cable which is 18 # and there very little room left in the center post opening. I would say no on 12 #.

Is this cable rated for outdoor use?

BEST ANSWER: I want to start out by saying I am not an expert on speaker wire. I used the wire I purchased for an outdoor home theatre. I installed all the wires in pvc conduit. I’m sure the wire would hold up pretty well, but you have to realize if you don’t put the wire in conduit you run the risk of squirrels and other animals chewing up the wires. The other thing is the sun’s UV rays will eventually break down the insulation on the wires.

What is the maximum voltage that this wire is rated for?

BEST ANSWER: Why are you asking? Its speaker wire so under normal operation you would never come close to the thermal limits of the copper. If you are using the wire for other uses than its intended purpose, you should already know this information or be able to find it out without asking a question on monoprice. Otherwise, I highly suggest you stop before you electrocute yourself and/or burn down your house.

this is not rated as electrical wire. it's speaker wire. However, Google is a good resource if you're looking for recommended wire gauges for a certain amperage.

I have looked at many data sheets for other brands speaker wire, voltage is generally not a spec they provide. I see that most amplifiers don't go much above 30V, so I know that I'd be fine with anything 24V or lower, but 48V? 60V? I know I'm not using it for what it's intended for, but as long as you don't run too much current (easy to know knowing the gauge) or too much voltage (which I don't seem to see anywhere) this would be fine for a lot of other applications.

What makes this cable "in-wall" rated? It is not CL2 or CL3, so I'm not sure how it differs from the Select series. Thanks.

Can this wire be used on Klipsch RP-8000F speakers and Klipsch in-ceiilng Atmos speakers?

BEST ANSWER: Short answer yes. Long answer- 12 gauge is probably overkill. You could do with 16 gauge easily for most applications - especially for atmos speakers which are going to draw very little power. Also consider that 12 gauge may be more difficult to maneuver to where the speaker is going to go, unless it is an un-finnished room.

Pure OFC copper wire!
This was much more than I needed (at the moment) but such a deal! I decided to go with the larger bulk roll to re-run all of the system because the HT wiring has been in place for over two decades. The 12 ga. OFC wire is well-marked with a blue stripe on one side for quick tracing. It is slightly stiff, but it has the advantage of maintaining a shape for soft bends around corners and such. The jacket is a little tough to split at first but separates easily once you have a start. IT FITS THE BANANA PLUGS! (#2008).This perfectly snugs into the closed end plugs without fooling with the jacket, allowing for a straight-in connection. Shipping was superior through the Fed-Ex.

Great wire!
Speaker wire, hmm. Not a whole lot to say about speaker wire other than THIS wire is good stuff at a reasonable price. I have ordered wire and clips from Monoprice before and they deliver exactly what I order in a timely manner and in good condition.

Copper is best
For speaker wire, this is perfect stuff. Forget the copper clad aluminum, use pure copper wire for your quality audio. Why scrimp after what you've put into your audio or AV system and speakers? I found this to be one of the best-priced copper wire around from a company you can trust. The wire is easy to work with and has a marked conductor to keep your polarity straight. I'd like to say I would buy it again, but... I got the 300 ft roll and expect it to last awhile!. But I would again, no question.
