Will the arm allow the monitor bottom to sit flush on the desktop and tilt back?
A shopper
on Feb 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this position is possible and would work well with monitors that have screen input. Smaller screens might have steeper angles to be able to sit on the desk, larger screens could have slacker angles. The center of the VESA mount can go as low as 6.3" above the desk, you can use that height as basis to estimate how steep your monitor would have to be angled to sit flush on the desk. Hope this helps.

I have a 3/8 or 5mm glass desktop. Dare I mount my RCA 24 in TV/monitor to it with this?
A shopper
on Jul 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would not risk damaging the glass top. Depending on the position of the monitor\TV, it will put stress on the mounting point and will probably crack the glass. If the side is wood, you could rig sometime to screw directly onto the side of the desk. Or just look into a wall mount if there is a wall near by.

That's pretty thin. While it does have a "foot" to disperse the pressure from the clamp, it's entirely up to your discretion.

I have a 2013 imac 21 inch screen. looking for a silver color single screen mount. Which monoprice monitor mount would you recommend? And does this work with a mac? I want to be able to remove the existing monitor base unit that comes with the Apple device and attach just the screen.

Is your monitor VESA compatible? VESA standards are a grid of anchor positions. 75x75mm, 100x100mm, 100x200mm, 200x200mm, 400x400mm

Can this be mounted upside down/in the ceiling or under cabinet? If yes, would be have the same weight capacity?
Mark Neil O
on Aug 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this product is not designed to be mounted upside down and will work differently in this orientation. This is because the gas spring provides a counter balance force to gravity in the upright position (it resists gravity's downward pull). If mounted upside down, the gas spring force and gravity will both go downwards, preventing full adjustability. One alternative you could consider are the Smooth Series wall mounts for TVs (they also work with VESA monitors), which would allow you to mount the gas spring arm on a vertical surface (not the ceiling but wall-mounting could give you options). You can check out the following products to see if they might fit your needs: 21908, 21909, 21910. Thanks for checking.

Is the height adjustment variable or is it a sit or stand type of adjustment? The image shows either up or down, no real in between height. I've seen some arms that it will only stay all the way up or only stays down if you push the monitor to the lowest height the arm will move to.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, height adjustment is variable and can be set to any height between the maximum and minimum settings. Just set the proper counter balance for your monitor (easily adjusted by turning an adjustment screw) and you can set your screen to hover at your ideal angle and position. Thanks for checking.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, if your desk is not against a wall and you have space behind it, this monitor arm can position your monitor beyond the back edge of your desk if you wanted to do it that way. If your desk is near a wall, you also have the option of clamping this monitor mount a bit to the side and have your monitor just a few inches from the back edge of the desk. Hope this helps.

Hi, that is correct. If your desk is right against a wall and you want your monitor as far back as possible, you can position the clamp towards one side instead of dead center so that the mount arms can run parallel to the desk edge instead of protruding behind the edge where it would be blocked by the wall. Hope that makes sense. Thanks.

Is there a locking mechanism or is the arm supposed to just float from the spring? It’s say max weight for a monitor is 14lbs. My monitor is 12lbs and when mounted it just sinks till it hits the desk. This mount can’t float the monitor.

How big is the base when clamped into the desk top? Width and depth from the wall? Thickness? Trying to see if it’s going to get in my way.
A shopper
on Feb 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The base is around 3.5" wide x 4.2" deep x 1.5" thick, most of it sits on the desktop itself. The base clamps to the desktop and only 0.4" of the base protrudes to the back beyond the desktop to attach to the clamp under the desk. If it will get in your way when positioning against a wall, this mount also comes with through-hole mounting hardware if you're willing to drill a 1/4" hole on your desktop. Hope this helps.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, this monitor mount is the easiest to adjust on the fly. You will only need to set it up initially to get the tension right so that the monitor is balanced and hovers just right at whatever position you set. Then you will only need to adjust it by hand during normal use, no tools or locking mechanisms would be needed. Hope this helps. Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, the flat metal piece that grabs on the desk is 3.5" wide, so technically it could work if your desk top is made of durable material like solid wood. To provide the metal piece with more surface area to tighten up against, it might also be possible to offset your mounting position a bit like towards the front so it can tighten up against more of the desk. However if your desktop is not that durable, you might need to a wider piece of plywood or other similar material to spread the load to a larger area. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Gas Spring Desk Mount
Does what it is supposed to do, and it was on sale at a very reasonable price. It allows me to swing a 27 inch monitor off the desk surface, while also enabling a mounting point for use of both an Apple TV and a Raspberry Pi SBC, as well as managing their cables. I've used Monoprice wall mounts, desk mounts, and roll around large tv carts, and have always been more than satisfied with them. I highly recommend them.

The mount is such that you can easily adapt it to most anything. I just had to buy a longer bolt to make it through my 6" desk top. It has not needed readjusted since installing with a 29" monitor 5 or 6 weeks ago.

Meh
Description stated it could handle up to 27" monitors and up to 13lbs - however, the monitor being used is 27" but only 8lbs yet once the arm is even with or below 50% of the vertical range, it just drops to the desk BAM! I would not recommend for people hoping to gain more desk space! Installation was easy and solid though.

Works Great!
I am very pleased with my Monoprice single monitor mount. It took me no time to drill a hole to mount this and to secure it to my monitor. It swivels and holds in all the positions I need. I only wish it were easier to switch it back and forth to a pedestal mount (have to remove the 4 screws on the back of the monitor), as I occasionally need to take the monitor to another location to use.

i bought this monitor arm in may 2019 and now have used it on 3 monitors and it is the perfect monitor arm for my situation at an amzing price (i paid 28$). i originally used it on a 24" samsung and then a 24" asus and now a 27" LG monitor. the lg monitor nearly maxes out the arm with it's 13LB weight (max rated weight is 14LB) but the arm has held steady with no droops. you just need to tighten the tension to max sure it can hold heavier weight monitors.

Works wonderfully!
Excellent monitor arm. I use it with a 27" Acer monitor (right on the upper edge of the acceptable specs for the monitor arm) and it works well. You just have to tighten the tension bolt several turns for it to be able to hold the weight.

Easy to install. That's about it.
The mounting parts go together nicely and it's nice to have the option to either clamp it to the edge of a desk or bolt it to the desk via a through-hole.
Unfortunately, I can't give very high marks to this product, as the gas spring itself is of poor quality. The mechanism can only reliably hold my monitor (9.5 lbs, well within the limitations of the mount) off the desk at 6 inches from the desk surface to the bottom of the monitor, roughly 10 inches from the surface of the desk to the VESA mount. Anything lower than that and the spring refuses to hold, allowing my monitor to drop all the way down to the desk surface. The instruction manual says to tighten the tension nut with an Allen wrench (included), but after having tightened it to the absolute maximum degree physically possible, it still fails to hold the monitor up properly.
I'm quite disappointed in this product.

Not recommended
I like the price, but I had to _really_ tighten it down in order to use it with a 27 monitornot a huge deal, but a little weird. The part that really bothers me is that the hinge that holds the monitor perpendicular to the desk (i.e. keeps the monitor straight up and down) is really bad. I had to torque on it pretty hard to get it tight enough to hold the monitor without the monitor falling forward. But if I touch the monitor to adjust it, it still tends to slip a bit in that hinge. Which means every time I touch the monitor to adjust it, I end up fighting with that hinge and fighting to get the monitor vertical again. Its a pain and totally defeats the purpose of having a nice gas spring thats intended to allow you to easily adjust the monitor. I would not recommend this mount.
