I have a late 2016 MacBook Pro and a non-Thunderbolt 4K (non-Apple) monitor that has a DisplayPort port. Will this work?

What version of displayport does this convert to? Is it Displayport 1.4 or 1.2 or 1.2a? I'm looking for something that supports thunderbolt 3 to 4k HDR FreeSync (Monoprice monitor). Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: Not really sure about the specs of the DP, but I use these cables to connect a newer iMac (with USB-C Thunderbolt ports to 4k Dell external monitors. It works flawlessly.

This works
Using this to connect my M1 + OWC dock to my AOC ultra windscreen monitor. Works perfectly. Does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Works the first time!
For whatever reason, USB-C to DP cables are very weird... Bought a cheaper cord elsewhere that didnt last more than a week.
This is a substantial cord. It is thick in the right places, very long, and works perfectly.
Shouldve bought monoprice first!

Perfect device if you need another monitor and your GPU has a USB-C port
Use this on a Asus ROG 27" 1440p monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate from the USB-C port on my GPU to have a third monitor. The adapter works as advertised, no issues. I get 1440p@144Hz.

Add a second external monitor without a dock!
I purchased one of these for my work laptop (a Lenovo Thinkpad) and it has allowed me to use a second external monitor at home without purchasing an expensive dock. So far it has worked well. Thanks!

Works fine with no problems. Shipping was fast as well. Notes -->
Works fine with no problems. Shipping was fast as well. Should be noted this is a thick, heavy duty cable that has bulk to it. Seems to be best suited for a fixed stationary installation, rather than a mobile or portable setup.

Do not know how to rate it
I found out after I received it that my laptop USB Type-C port does not support output to a 4k monitor via Display Port. So it does not work, but I will keep it around for possible use at a later date. The cable arrived in good shape and appears to be of adequate quality.
