BEST ANSWER: HI. It depends on the port on your external battery. My external batteries have female usb a ports, so I would need a usb c male to usb a male, not female. I purchased the described item to connect to a male usb a cable. I suggest you look at your battery and see what it needs.

I don't know if it's my phone or the cables I bought from Monoprice...but they fit loosely. They also aren't durable. The connector has gotten wiggly on me.

USB C to A cable protects a production computer
I bought this cable to use with USB A devices in a fixed AV installation. It worked well with flash drives and a USB connected video capture device. My application is protect a Mac Mini by preventing multiple insertion attempts by various people not familiar with the device.
