What's the difference between 4X1 and 4 Outlet listings?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Both will be the same exact 4 port hub. However, the 4 Outlet listing will include an AC Power Adapter and the 4x1 listing will not include the AC Power Adapter.

Does this have overcharge protection?

BEST ANSWER: Smart devices, like phones, tablets, etc. control charging inside the device... when the battery reaches full charge, the device stops accepting power from the charging device. "Dumb" devices with batteries that are usually replaceable and often look like conventional AAA or AA batteries, may not have overcharge protection and it's up to you to stop charging after some period of time. Also, USB 3.1 transfers data twice as fast as USB 3.0 so a USB 3.1 expander may be a better purchase for many people as it will be compatible with USB 3.1 in their next computer even if their current computer does not have USB 3.1.

Mine works with windows 10. It doesn’t require a driver so I’m not sure why it wouldn’t work.

Can I purchase the ac adapter separately? If not, can you give me the model number?

BEST ANSWER: I purchased the "4" not the "4x1", mine does not have ac adapter. Until you asked question I never paid attention, although I did want one that did not require using ac.

Does this unit make noise when using ac adaptor? Due to the shortness of the cord, would having the unit resting on its end on my PC shelf create a problem for it to work properly?

Not recommended for USB SSDs
When moving data from my SATA 6Gbps SSD with its 10Gbps USB adapter to the internal NVMe of my Xbox Series X, I get consistent transfer speeds of just under 2.9Gbps. Connected through this USB hub my speeds start the same but then immediately drop off and fluctuate somewhere between 400 and 600Mbps. I realize this is a USB 5Gbps hub, but these are slower speeds than what I get with a mechanical HDD when connected directly to the Xbox. This hub is a significant bottleneck, and I have to imagine the lack of an external power supply only exacerbates that.
tl;dr if you're buying this for anything but a USB SSD I'm sure it gets the job done but would strong recommend against using it for that purpose

Good USB Hub
Works well, looks nice. The fit is snug. A slightly longer cord might be nice but all-in-all it is a well made USB hub.

Great hub with a VERY bright LED
Great hub, works as designed with no issues. Only thing I'd change would be the brightness of the blue LED light on it. It's *blinding* in a dark room. Otherwise, very good product.

It works. I just wanted more usb 3 ports and this does that without taking away my only usb-c port.
