I am trying to convert a cassette tape to CD and I have a boom box with a 3.5 mm jack and my computer has a 3.5 mm mic/speaker jack combination. I tried to use a standard stereo 3.5 mm cable with both ends being male but the computer audio doesn't recognize the setup. I even tried using a combination headset with a mic and it isn't recognized by the computer. Will this cable allow me to get the audio off of the cassette into the computer and subsequently burn a CD?

BEST ANSWER: The short answer is no, this cable will not solve your boombox-to-computer inteconnect problem.
At least two incompatabilities are present: a pinout problem and a level problem.
Let's address the level problem first. The boombox output is at either a "line out" our "aux out" level, somewhere between 1.0VAC and 0.3 VAC. The microphone input is looking for a voltage of .050 to .005 volts. A line out to mic in will overload a mic input,. A line out must be attenuated to connect to a mic in.
The pinout incompatability is the TRS boombox output is stereo, while the mic input is mono. If you were to attenuate the boombox output to mic level, you would lose left-right channel seperation.
Additionally, two major standards exist for headphone jacks: AHJ and OMTP pinouts.
You might be better off seeking a computer with a stereo Line Input jack, which would permit easy direct connection.

Interesting question. I think I was trying to solve a similar problem- I have a rode video mic, trying to get audio into a tablet. Tablet was looking for trrs, mic sending trs. The answer seems to be a trs-trrs adaptor. In my case the rode sc-4 adaptor. Monoprice may have an adaptor. Used to be available at radio shack, when there was a radio shack. Hope that helps.

This cable will not do what you want. You either need a TRRS male to TRS female splitter (couldn't spot one on monoprice) or an inexpensive USB audio adapter.. the monoprice 3-port USB hub with audio would do the trick (PID 6437).

I am trying to convert an audio cassette tape to CD. I have boom box with a 3.5 mm plug for a headset and my computer has a combination audio in/audio out 3.5 mm plug. I connected the two by a 3.5 mm stereo audio cable with male jacks on both ends. The computer doesn't recognize the connection and I even tried a combination headset/mic on the jack in the computer and it isn't recognized either. I found this out by right clicking on the sound icon on the bar in the lower right corner of the computer and selected recording devices and also tried it with playback devices. Will this cable allow me to copy the cassette to the computer and subsequently burn a CD?

Thanks for the suggestion but, I have a Toshiba laptop Model C55-C55380 Windows 10 and on page 96 of the manual it talks about the only port for audio in and audio out and that is the port I am using. The rest of the input/output ports are USB and of course HDMI and internet. So I am stuck with this port. What is the third black ring on the connector intend to be used for? Thanks!!!!

Which wiring standard does this use? OMTP (Ring 1 to be used for right audio, ring 2 to be used for microphone, and the sleeve to be used for ground. ) or CTIA/AHJ (Ring 1 to be used for right audio, ring 2 to be used for ground, and the sleeve to be used for microphone)?

BEST ANSWER: This is a pass-through cable. there is no wiring standard to be concerned about here.

Will this work for most gaming headsets? I have a Logitech G series my cat just chewed into

BEST ANSWER: I'm sure it will. It's the typical connection for a stereo headset with a microphone. The only problem you could potentially have is the size of the connector and the size of the jack being compatible, especially if it's particularly small.

Does this actually have a microphone? Previous reviews say that it doesn't, but they're a year old, and Monoprice changes their items quickly(I ordered the same pair of headphones 1 year apart but only the first came with the aux cord that has a mic, which is bent and why I'm looking for a replacement) So, what I'm saying is, does this cable come with a built-in microphone as of Oct. 2018?

How many wires are inside this cable? I'm looking to replace a broken cable on a hyperx cloud headset and planned to cut off one of the ends and solder the leads to the pcb in the headset. I'm looking for a cable with 5 wires (right ear, left ear, ground, mic, and a separate mic ground).

Is the cable shielded against RF? Such as a foil shielding? And what awg inner core is the wire?

thin cord, good length
The cord is long and thin, much like cheap headphone cords from the early 2000s; I have to put it up or my cat will bite right through it.
Otherwise, is a serviceable cord.

Best electronic store online
I don?t have any videos, or pictures of this purchase, because we all know why we need this. My 2 boys use these cables for there iPads connected to there headphones. They love them!!! The cable feels of great quality and they look it as well. I would like to buy more of these for my wife and daughter. The best part of this is knowing that it is lifetime guarantee it at least I think it is. If this is true, it puts my mind at ease. Thank you Monoprice. You are my favorite online electronic store. I would love to try your tower speakers out for Home theater. Would love to hear them before buying.

Perfect!
I wish I knew about this website earlier. Great source for those hard to find audio cables that seem to be commonly used on iPads and micro devices these days. I will definitely be using Monoprice in the future.

Works With Headsets with Integrated Mics
Like the product so far. Works great with headphones that have mics already. Like Sony Platinum headset.
