So to use in bridged mono, do I use a Y RCA cable to connect the L and R preamp outputs and use the single end to only the left input of this amp? can someone clarify?

BEST ANSWER: To get the full program from your stereo line out you will need to Y the left and right together then plug mono into the Left input of the Unity amp in bridge mode.

No, you still need to feed both L/R with the same signal or as the manual states, feed the L input and use the L loop output with a short cable to feed the R input that way both L/R inputs have the same signal.

If I bridge 2 channels to one will the bridged channel be stereo?
New User U
on Aug 6, 2022
BEST ANSWER: If you're asking whether, in bridged mode, the device mixes the Left input and the Right input together (so that you get both in the single bridged output channel), then the answer is no. In bridged mode it only uses whatever is coming into the Left input. However, you can mix those externally with a y-adapter like the one noted below. Then just plug the male part of the y-adapter into the Left input of the amp.

I’m using the exact setup they’re recommending. 100w unity and I’m getting almost no woof out of this sub. I have the amp bridged and properly wired and just very little bass response.
However, if I plug in my 100w Klipsch bookcase speaker I get lots of sound. So much I have to dial it back.
My line in comes from the 6-zone amp (the proper line out L/R to the unity).
Any thoughts or maybe I have a dud sub?

Yes, this should work exactly as you described. Not that the Aria In-Wall subs best suited to add a little extra bass to smaller main speakers, but they can't really take the place of a proper boxed sub in a home theater. I would recommend them for multi-room audio setups, or where being in-wall is an absolute must.

If you want dual mono then just use a 3.5 male stereo (1/8" TRS) to 3.5 female mono (1/8" TS) adaptor plugging directly into the chromecast, then your standard 3.5 male to 2 RCA from the adaptor to the Chromecast Audio. I'm attaching the product that will do it.

The only way I could think of doing that is using a Stereo to Mono RCA adaptor, you'd get a Summed Mono (both left and right signals into the same speakers albiet slightly lower in volume) into the amp.

Hello Does this have a 70v output?
A shopper
on Mar 21, 2023
BEST ANSWER: The voltage output on a home audio amplifier with 8 ohm speakers will depend on the power of the amplifier. A more powerful amplifier will deliver more voltage. The standard output voltage for a home audio amplifier is 10 volts. This is the voltage that is needed to drive an 8-ohm speaker to its full power.
The output voltage of an amplifier is determined by the following formula:
Output Voltage = Power / Resistance
where:
Power is the output power of the amplifier in watts
Resistance is the resistance of the speakers in ohms
For example, if an amplifier has an output power of 100 watts and the speakers have a resistance of 8 ohms, the output voltage will be 12.5 volts. watts and the speakers have a resistance of 8 ohms, the output voltage will be 12.5 volts.

BEST ANSWER: The Unity Amp uses the Phoenix type speaker wire connector block (see the website image of the back of the unit). It does not accept banana plugs. To connect speakers, you unplug the connector block, screw wire leads into the terminals, then plug the connector block back in. As you can see by the picture of the product, it is an open vented box and would need to be placed in a protected area. I also am not completely happy with the unit as it has a low level buzz around 120Hz with lower level ringing around 2KHz. It is gain sensitive so with the amp at a mid-level gain setting, it is pretty low and only noticable in a quiet room with no actual signal.

If these specs are correct, I can power four(4) 8 ohm speakers off the two channels on the Unity 200-watt amp (4 ohm load), at 62.5 watts per speaker - which is 12.5 more watts per speaker than getting two(2) Unity 100-watt amps to power the same four speakers (50 watts @ 8 ohm load) while saving space in my rack - with the only draw back being the higher THD and perhaps higher heat from running the amp at 4 ohms? Am I thinking correctly?

If you run an amp at high power, especially if you run it for a long periods, you will certainly damage the amp long term... More power = more heat = more signal degradation / damage. In most instances, you are better off running two amps at a lower power for longer than a single amp at full power. Of course, this totally depends upon the volume that you wish to derive from the setup. If you're only going to operate at 10 percent power, no issues. However, if you're running at 90 - 100 percent, because you want lots of volume, you're probably better off running two amps at 50 percent.

I have 12 pairs of ceiling speakers (8 ohms, 20-100watts per channel), 2 zones also include the Aria in-wall Sub. 4 of the zones could feature 3 or 4 speakers. What is the best way to minimize the number of amps? I will run each zone via Airport Express or Apple TVs.
John L
on Jan 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If I was running that many speakers, Id go for an AV receiver or two, depending on your setup. Some even run a second or third zone, so You could have your larger 4 speaker area as the main zone, and then one or two other zones. Most receivers that have networking have airplay built in. Then you can run things from one or two units, instead of trying to juggle 4-6 different apple TVs. Also, look into Yamaha musicast, it might be something that interests you - it's built into their products. I attached 2, but it's likely that there are many that could fit your needs. Also, If you're just planning to play the same music in different rooms, you could connect other speakers to the main zone, and have the receiver do multi-channel stereo- where it sends a stereo signal to each pair of speakers in the main zone. With this, you could even put a volume control in the other rooms. Without knowing more specifics, this is the best advice I can offer. If you really just want to use these amps, you could try splitting the signal. It will mean less power and volume per speaker though, and you run the risk of over-driving this amp. You will need an amp for your in-wall subs though, whichever route you go. I am currently using one of these amps to run 2 of the same subs you have. I run it in bridge mode and then split the output to the two speakers.

BEST ANSWER: Depends on what your input source is if it has base band audio outputs (RCA or head phone jack) or even if you buy a converter cord for you phone you should be good to go. Only if you are using a older style of turntable will you need to use a preamp.

You would need a pre-amp/ source, or a combination type device like a music streaming device that essentially is a preamp and DAC in one.

Bi-ampimg center channel, would it be possible to run a single rca from the center preout on the receiver into a Y-plitter into the unity amplifier L/R inputs then use each channel (L/R) to bi amp the center speaker?

Given the center output on your amplifier is a single RCA, you'd just run the Monoprice amp in bridged mode (which combines left and right into a single, more powerful channel, so you can run a less powerful amplifier, since you'll be combining the power of left and right into one channel), then just connect your center channel to the Monoprice amplifier like normal. Information on bridging the amp is in the manual, which is linked on the product page, at the bottom.

Thank you for your reply. I should have listed more info in my orginal question... the issue is the center channel speaker is 4 ohm and the 100w unity amplifier is rated for 8 ohm bridged.
That changes things. You'll overdrive the amplifier with a 4 ohm load when it's expecting an 8 ohm load. Amplifiers typically won't do 4 ohm while bridged, unless the amplifier is capable of driving a 2 ohm load in stereo. You'd have to add a second 4 ohm speaker in series to present an 8 ohm load to the amplifier, or find some other way to bump up the impedance that the amplifier will see.
The speaker is capable of bi-amping. So figured I'd just run the center that way. It'll be 4ohm to each pair of speakers.
In that case, then you could run the amp in stereo, feed left and right to your speaker, then use a Y adapter to get your mono center channel signal to the left and right of the amplifier so the speaker sees the same audio on both channels.

I would like to connect an unbalanced MiniDSP 2x4 to the Unity 100W amp. The MiniDSP has a max output voltage of 0.9v. Will this work with the amp?
(I'm told that there should be a rating called 'input sensitivity' to measure this, and that it needs to be at or below 0.9v. I'm also told that input sensitivity can be calculated off of gain and output wattage. Since this amplifier has adjustable gain, what are the minimum and maximum gain settings?)

BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your interest in this power amp. The Unity series of stereo power amps do not have adjustable input sensitivity. The input will accommodate line input voltage from 400mV (0.4V) to 2V. Rear mounted output volume is adjusted to provide max power before distortion to your speakers. If you have any further questions please contact tech support.

Could I use 2 of these, on mono bridge mode, to biamp a center channel speakers (1 for HF, 2nd for LF) ?. Considering my AVR DENON 4300h has as all AVR preouts, one single center preout, if I split the signal for both amps it will degrade or affect sound performance ?

BEST ANSWER: Do you have an outboard digital crossover to bi-amp the center? Splitting a preamp output into two doesn't accomplish what I think you want to accomplish.

Can the RCA analog out jack feed the low level audio signal out and into an analog input on a TV soundbar?
If so, could the soundbar and the outside speakers be playing at the same time?
My primary use is to feed my outside 2 patio loudspeakers, but wondering if this unit would also function as an audio source by feeding it's signal into my bedroom's soundbar (not purchased yet). Source would be an RPi as a ROON endpoint.

Monoprice Alpha In-Wall Speaker 10in Carbon Fiber 300W Subwoofer (each)
BEST ANSWER: It depends if you're planning to drive the speaker hard. Most people don't. I had 3 of the 150W subs in my home, but found they would pop at medium volume if a really low frequency hit them. It made movie time unpleasant. I replaced them with the 300W Amber series subwoofer, and used 200W Unity amps bridged to drive them, and it's a world better.

I want to know if the 100 watt version of this power amp will be sufficient to run my 2 rear surrounds in my 7.2.4 system
Denon X3700h, to Klipsch R41-m surrounds rated
REQUENCY RESPONSE 68Hz - 21kHz +/- 3dB
SENSITIVITY 90 dB @ 2.83V/1M
POWER HANDLING (CONT/PEAK) 50W/200W.
OR do I need the 200 watt version to assure enough power?
It looks like the 100 watt version can deliver 50 watts x 2 in this case?

Excellent utility amp for installation professionals. We'll see how long it lasts, but it runs cool so it'll probably last for years.

Great for the price
I'm using 2 of these to power rear and side surrounds on a pioneer VSX-LX505. So far its been fine. I like that they have an in and out on the trigger. Think its good option for for surrounds or ceiling especially 9 channel AVRs with 11 channel processing.

Great little amps
These are great little amps. Affordable. I just simply plug in my echo dot into it using a 3.5mm to RCA adapter and then use more RCA cables to daisy chain to 3 other amps. I run 8 outdoor speakers with them or I should say my daughter does.
