Does it work with electrical circuits?

BEST ANSWER: If you mean typucal home AC circuits, then no. It's designed for low voltage circuits. It's voltage protection has a maximum of 60V AC, which is obviously too low for home AC circuits. It would work on circuits not yet carrying voltage (disconnected circuits), but definitely not on connected circuits.

Does the tone generator send a signal out the RJ45 port, or only the RJ11 & clips?

The tone generator can send it out of all the ports on the transmitter portion of this kit.

Can I use this through drywall? I have one end of speaker wire exposed. The other end is hidden in the drywall somewhere and I would need to trace the wire through the drywall to find it.

Works... sometimes

It works, sometimes. For two out of 8 cat6 connections it showed connectivity, but the cable did not transfer signal.

Test tone generator

I needed to identify the coax cables in the cable box on the side of my house and this little tool worked great. Not the most industrial looking tool but it did the job.

Does what it claims to do, craftsmanship could be better

Worked for what I needed; toning out CAT6 and terminating them in a home. The only issue I had was with the battery cover on the back of the receiver, it wouldn't stay in place so I had to use some tape to keep it in place.

Fantastic fox & hound

This product has been amazing. The Last one I had, (not this one) I couldnt figure out how to use. Once I got this, put the included batteries in and was able to start hardening my network. It has been amazing.

Same features as sets costing much more

This was the lowest priced tone and probe set I could find when I needed to troubleshoot a couple of network runs. It works perfectly, with one cable end with an RJ45 plug plugging directly into the tone generator.
