How do I connect to Windows 7? I plugged the dongle in, put the batteries in the mouse, turned the switch to the "On" position and nothing happens. Do I need to reboot? Should it not be a "plug and play" device. I am using Windows 7. Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, I use this with a Win7 machine and didn't need to take any additional steps or install anything. The device does "time out" and you need to click a button to have it register mouse movement after a few minutes of inactivity, but I don't recall if that was needed at first use. I do believe it took a minute or two for Windows 7 to identify the device and install the driver on first use though, but that was just the one time. If waiting, double-checking the driver installed correctly (should be automatic) and it still doesn't work, it may be a defective unit.

It was plug and play for both Windows 7 and Windows 10 for me. It took a while, first it wants to load a USB driver and then it wants to load a mouse driver. I have had an issue with some dongles in the past, and moving it to a different USB port often solved the problem. It seems Windows can sometimes screw up a USB port that has had different devices in and out. I am not sure how to clear that problem, fortunately my laptop has several USB ports.

Check to see that the batteries are installed correctly. There should be a picture under each battery to help. The mouse shouldn’t have any issues with windows 7.

It should "wake up"/ start working, once you move the "wheel" on top. At least that's how mine works & I'm using it with Windows 7. Good luck!

Is this really an ergonomic vertical mouse? From the picture it looks like any other ordinary mouse?
A shopper
on Jun 7, 2023
BEST ANSWER: This is not a vertical mouse.
It is ergonomic in the sense that it fits the hand better than the first mice on the market that had no cut-outs for the thumb. So it is more ergonomic than some mice, but it is certainly not a vertical mouse.

If you use Windows download X-Mouse Button Control. You can set each button to perform different functions per application, even a specific titled window. Adds useability to any mouse especially 7 button types.

what is the rectangular button purpose above the scroll wheel? It seems like for mouse DPI control if so how many settings does it have for DPI? That should be added to the description.
Marc C

BEST ANSWER: I just got this mouse, and I love it.
I also wondered about the purpose of the rectangular button on top of the mouse.
I learned that this reactivates the mouse after it goes to sleep to save the battery.
Thus, if you do not use the mouse for a while, it shuts off, saving the two AAA batteries.
Just press the rectangular button on top of the mouse, and it comes to life instantly!
The funny part was that I was considering returning the mouse, as it would quit working if I left it alone for a while.
So, I was taking out the batteries and putting them back in, to get it to come alive again.
Then I discovered the purpose of the button and now all is good. Pressing this button to wake it up is not a problem at all.
I adjust the mouse settings a little in Windows 10, as the small movements of the mouse was moving the mouse pointer too far, at least for my tastes.
This is very easy to do.
This is a good mouse, very comfortable. and I like the two buttons on the left hand side. They are for Back a Page and Forward a Page when you are on the Internet.

I was not able to plug the dongle into one of the USB ports on my computer (standard, not USB C). It fit too tight. I am thinking that I may have a plastic spade somewhere that will slip in the slot to decrease the pressure dimples.. Anyone else have this problem? Perhaps Monoprice would send me a replacement dongle.

I put the batteries in, plugged the USB in, and flipped the switch. Nothing happened. The light on the bottom of the mouse didn't come on, the cursor didn't respond, but my computer said that the software of the mouse was connected. I waited 12 days for this delivery in order to take a really important test in 9 days and it doesn't even work! Needless to say, I'm extremely upset and dissatisfied. I saw that this mouse is supposed to work with Windows 7, so did I just get a dud, or am I missing something? I rearranged the batteries and made sure I put them in correctly and even changed the batteries to other AAA's but it still doesn't work. Any advice or am I going to have to send this mouse back and wait another 12 days...?

Good mouse for the price.
The shape feels nice, although it does almost seem too light. A little more weight might make it feel sturdier, although I haven't used it enough yet to know how it holds up.

Fine but you get what you pay for
Very cheap - $10 - and for that price it's fine. It works. Two issues I had: first, at least under Linux the back and forward buttons were swapped (I was able to swap them in software). Second, just moving the mouse did not wake it up from sleep like I am I used to, instead I had to click a button to wake it.
