Are these cables certified by DisplayPort themselves?
Michael S
on Nov 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. VESA requires the DP logo to be on each end of certified cables & for consumer usage, should be no longer than 2 meters or 6.6 feet. However, I've used Monoprice DP cables & have had no issues. If I were doing it for a living (like Photoshop or other demanding graphic usage), would probably splurge on the $25-35 cables. However, in my experience, haven't seen the difference between the VESA approve ones & those which aren't. Even Samsung ships non-certified DP cables (although at the 2 meter length) with their PC monitors, at 4K & 60Hz, I can't tell the difference between my certified & non-certified cables. However, if I purchased a high performance 2K monitor rated for 144Hz, I'd certainly go certified, if the cable in the box doesn't have the DP logo, will use elsewhere.
Maybe I've been lucky, have yet to run into a DP cable I couldn't use, even my first, a 10 feet Nippon branded cable purchased on promo for $4.99 shipped. Still using on a PC which isn't important any longer. I true Monoprice quality due to purchasing many cables from them, have never had to return the first one. I'm now looking for a DP 1.2 cable for my own usage & will get it here, as I have in the past. Monoprice has your back on their cables, for life, unless otherwise specified, that's good enough for me.

What the heck? One answer says this cable supports 4k60Hz, but another answer says 4k only (without 60 Hz). Which is it? Thx

BEST ANSWER: For the most part display port cables cannot push 4k further than 2 meters. So if you buy a 6ft cable or less it should be 4k @ 60Hz.

What is the difference between the "Monoprice Essentials" and the "Select Series" DisplayPort 1.2a cable? Other than price, of course.

25 ft cable does not support all DP 1.2 functions
I purchased both the 15 ft and 25 ft DP 1.2 cables. Please note neither of those cables are 1.2a. The 25 ft cable does NOT support all 1.2 DP functions, where my 2k monitor was limited to 1080p. I did not test the refresh rate of the 25 ft cable after not being able to obtain the native 2k resolution of my monitor. The 15 ft cable worked as advertised. I will be contacting Monoprice customer service tomorrow to return the 25 ft cable, and I will update my review.

Not as useful as I hoped.
Cable is really stiff and the USB c connector is really loose on my oneplus 6t.When I hit a bump while driving it disconnects.

Says 1.2 compliant but can't run 1440p 144hz alongside my MONOPRICE monitor only 1440p 60hz and anything below (1080p 144hz)... deeply disappointing

Response from Monoprice
I'm sorry to hear that, I would recommend double checking if your graphics card can output that resolution and refresh rate. Especially if you are running dual monitors. Also, I would recommend checking for driver updates to see if it will help the issue. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] with a detailed summary of the issue you are experiencing and our knowledgeable Technical Support staff would be more than happy to assist. Thank you

works great
Cable works great for connecting my cable box to my TV. Note - this is a heavy duty cable, so it's not as flexible as typical HDMI cables.

Be aware, this i VERY SHORT
Good quality cable, I just wasn't aware how short it really is. But it's a good thing because the shorter the cable, the higher are the chances you get better refresh rates when overclocking monitors.
