Can this be installed on a brick wall?
Brad G
on Sep 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Of couse this depends more on the quality and type of brick, the stabuility of the brick, and can your brick wall hold up the weight of your tv.
So, to answer your question, YES it can be installed on a brick wall. The real question that only you or someone who is in the presence of the brick wall should be asking is: "Can my brick wall support the weight of my tv, and what is the correct way to attach the mount to my specific brick wall?".

Yes I'm sure it can be installed on a brick wall, but you will need to get some special anchors to be installed into the brick. The product does not come with the hardware to install on brick. Installing this on a brick wall will require much added effort.

Yes, throw away the cheap plastic anchors they provide. Go to a hardware store and spend $2 for a set of redhead or other brand anchors and install. A rotary hammer drill works best. Drill directly into the bricks, mortar is no good. Hope this helps.

I keep reading I shouldn't install in the brick but the mortar. So brick is best? Also, should I get both the anchors and the screws from the hardware store? Thank you!
I use 1.75" Anchors when I install. Mortar can be soft and brittle. The top anchor is under the most torque; think of rain gutters over a long period of time as an analogy. You could also use old school toggles if you have a space for the toggle to expand in. I've hung many a 58" Plasma (160-185 Lbs.) with no problems. Good luck.
I would check with a local hardware store as to what anchors they suggest to use to mount it with, otherwise yeah it should be able to.

What's the main difference between 15867 and 15868? Seems to be same VESA range, weight limit, and functionality.

Monoprice Full Motion Single-Stud TV Wall Mount Bracket For 23" To 60" TVs up to 77lbs, Max VESA 400x400, Works with Concrete, Brick, and Wooden Studs
Monoprice EZ Series Low Profile Full-Motion Articulating TV Wall Mount Bracket For LED TVs 23in to 55in, Max Weight 77lbs, VESA Patterns Up to 400x400, Rotating, UL Certified
I believe the difference is in the shape of the mounting plate to the TV. The 15867 leaves more room to access plugs on TV. Also it seems to me that the 15867 may have a bigger mounting range due to the four brackets that can bolt on to the mounting plate, although that is not in the description.

It is not. The TV centers a few inches to the right of the stud attachment. The inner arm (closest to TV) measures approx. 7.25" from the VESA plate weld to the axis and the two larger arms it folds into measure approx. 10.25" from the stud attachment to the axis.

Measured and it is approximately 2" to the side of stud centerline. I believe it can be flipped so that the TV sits to the left of center. You can kinda see this in product photos #2/3 - the ghosted image shows it fully collapsed with the VESA mount a bit off center from the center stud part.
I did not have an issue with it being centered when collapsed. Just be sure you mount it correctly. Draw a enter mark and collapse the mount. Install the bracket where the center of the TV part of the bracket is centered.

Trying to figure out what you mean by up and down. The arm is stationary with the exception that it swings out away from the wall. The plate that attaches to the TV tilts up and down as well as left or right. I hope this helps. It is the best TV wall mount for the price anywhere. I own three of them. Easy assembly.

I have a 55 inch TV attached to this mount. I can pull it out and pivot it about 75 degrees before the side hits the wall. A smaller TV will pivot further. Full extension is about 18 inches from the wall, so if the width of your TV is less than 36 inches it should pivot fully sideways. I hope that helps!

Not sure what you mean, exactly, but, if you are saying that you want to mount the TV on the wall to your right, then extend the TV and rotate it 90 degrees so that the TV is perpendicular to the wall? You can only do that if the TV is less than twice the width of the mounts' maximum extension.
So this mount extends 20", you will only be able to rotate the TV 90 degrees if the TV is less than 40" wide total.. If the TV is more than 40" wide, you will only be able to rotate it some amount less than 90 degrees. That may be enough for what you need, but as I said, the question is a little ambiguous.

I have a 55 inch set that I need to mount offset. There's an access panel centered on the wall just where the TV needs to go - so I need a mount where I can set the wall attachment point at one end of the TV - the TV would stay flush against the wall until one needed to get to the access panel, then swung out like a door - will this mount work for that?
Jaime B
on Jan 24, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I don't think it would work to swing out like a door, especially with a 55" TV. I have a 43" monitor mounted and keep it flush against the wall, but even with the smaller size I can't swing it out to a 90 degree angle. I would suggest a mount where you could attach the vesa mounts to the back of the TV and then "hang" it onto the mount attached to the wall. That won't be as convenient, but would give you complete access to the panel. Hope this helps.

The TV VESA mounting plate attaches to the arm by hanging it over the top of the arm bracket, and then adding one nut to the bottom mounting screw. You can remove the bottom nut, loosen the upper nuts, and then just lift the set with it's mounting plate off the arm. You don't have to remove the VESA plate from the TV to take the TV down.

The bracket mounts to the back of the tv using 4 screws that are easy to remove. You have to determine which screws to use based on the tv and the mount interface for some screws are shorter than others and gives a better fit. Once the bracket is connected to the tv it can then be hung on the mount and secured using the three screws and wrench. All in all about 10 to 15 minutes.

If you can position the Mount over a stud that would be best. If you need to mount it in the hollow part of the wall a hollow wall anchor should be used. I cannot remember if the bracket include those anchors. They are readily available at Home Depot or Lowes

Randy

BEST ANSWER: I believe it will work with non-square VESA patterns. It's hard to see on the product pictures, but there are arms that get attached to the corners of the mounting area. These arms can be locked into position in a range of horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. Setting the arms in different configurations should be able to achieve a rectangular VESA shape.

HI, I have used this mount extensively, and it will handle your application. As you can see, the base back plate has a myriad of holes to accommodate many differing VESA configurations.

The specs say it can fit a 400x400 VESA, however my TV is a 200x200. I am concerned that the mounting plate will be too big and cover my input ports. What are the actual dimensions of the mounting plate? How can it fit a 400x400 VESA if the plate appears to be smaller than the 12" long wall mount?

Can the TV swivel either clockwise or counter clock wise? I need to be able to swivel the TV vertically when I push it back to the wall. Then I need to be able to pull it out away from the wall and swivel it back to horizontal. I have a display cabinet to the left and a window to the right and only enough room for the TV to be verticle or width up and down while it is not in use.

To determine compatibility with a TV mount to your TV, please determine the VESA mounting pattern on the back of your TV.
It is the 4 screw hole square formation on the back and it is usually listed on the TV specs or you can find out by searching your TV's model number on Omnimount's website or measuring it yourself (measured in millimeters).
This TV mount's range from 75 x 75 mm to 400 x 400 and up so please check the TV mount specs for compatibility as well.I hope this helps, thank you!

How heavy is bracket on wall! Putting up 43” tv weight of 21 lbs. overkill?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
This mount would be 8.215 lbs.
As long as the TV you want to use would have a VESA/mounting hole pattern and weight that is supported by the mount it would work.

How is the TV able to "lock" in place for the tilt function? Is their a latch/knob? Or is it a screw that you tighten enough in order to allow the TV to tilt but stay locked in the chosen angle.

Unfortunately, I have yet to install it but I have bought other brackets for you and they all worked wonderful and the price is right. I don't know if you can referee an argument between me and my girlfriend about putting it on the wall. Originally it was on the TV stand and she don't want to change it. I guess I could get another and it wouldn't be an issue. Keep up the good work.

What more could you want from a wall mount?
Came with everything needed to install the mount on the wall and attach the TV to the mount other than tools. Easy to install with basic tools and simple to adjust once the tv is mounted.
Easy to swivel, so the tv can be viewed from the sitting area or the bed in my bedroom.

It works
It tilts downward. I had to use some of the washers to offset it.

Very Flexible Mount
This mount is good quality and easy to install. The plastic caps for the center (wall) plate are difficult to install, however.

Solid Mount at Great Price
Straightforward install and great value. Used it to mount an older 42" plasma on a drywall wall with studs with a VESA 400x400 pattern. TV center sits about 1.5" offset from mounting screw center (can be either side depending on how you fold the extensions arm). Feels sturdy even at full extension. Tilt adjust and leveling are a little fiddly and require an allen wrench. Would definitely purchase again.
