BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. No this item was not rated for in-wall installation. We would recommend product # 2823 instead which is CL2 rated. Please be sure to check with your local code as to what is required prior to purchasing and/or installing these cables.

10 + years back I bought I bought 12 gauge wire from monoprice, oxygen free cooper it was 100 feet, I probably spend 25$ on it, that roll has 36 feet left if that, I have since moved and in the new room I need at lest 93 feet of wire. Longest run of wire I gonna need is probably 38 feet, and from there the run will get lower and lower, Thing is I gonna run the wire under a carpet along the walls, And I found that 12 gauge to be bit to thick, I am assuming 14 gauge will much better, cause with it cover on it too thick and I find the wires when exposed is to thick to thread properly into my speakers and receiver current speakers and receiver have to have the actually wires thread into them.
Will 14 gauge or even 16 gauge be ok for running the wires under carpet around the side the walls to where they need to be? Nothing will be placed on top of where the wires will be ran under the carpet other then the carpet. 1 cable run will be 38 (feet Rear Left), all other speaker runs will be 23 (Rear Right), 15 (Front Left), 11 (Front Right) , 8 (Center) if I choose to just staple them to side of wall bottom frame this wont matter but I don't want to see the wires.

BEST ANSWER: 16 gauge should be fine but I suggest using Monoprice copper strands or the CL rated wire instead.

I would give it 5 stars, but the way it came wound like a ball of string made it like trying to unwind a Slinky. It took a long time to get straightened out, but otherwise it was great.

Does the job
For not-fancy, inexpensive speaker wire this works and it will most likely be an upgrade over whatever is included in any surround sound / speaker system. The only catch is that stripping the ends without taking any strands along with the jacket is an art form. It was the most uncooperative speaker wire that I have ever worked with in that regard. If you don't want to drive yourself nuts upgrade to wire with a softer outer sleeve or burn the ends and pull the plastic off with your teeth like I did.
Going pyro is nowhere near as much fun as it sounds.

Great Value!
Nothing fancy, just great speaker wire. I love the visible copper. This should be the perfect amount of wire for home theater set ups for small to medium living rooms. (mine is about 200 square feet.

Great bang for the buck
Just your standard speaker wire at a great price. More than adequate for 50 ft runs.

Good stuff
Easy to handle. Don't notice any audio quality difference compared to the Monster cables I already have. Does its job. Spool is fine. Packaged well.

You can't find this price anywhere.
I came up about 20 feet short on my weekend project. Could not wait another week and needed to finish on a Saturday. Went to "The Depot" to get last 20 feet. I paid $14 out the door for only 25 feet. WAY WAY more expensive than monoprice. Not only that, the clear covering of the copper was Super hard, making it nearly impossible to split the +/- apart to splice. The monoprice clear covering was very soft. Felt like more of the rubber feel you want. You absolutely will not find 16AWG speaker wire for 7 cents a foot. no way. Great buy.
