Is this sutiable for outdoor use?
Ron Thaisz T

BEST ANSWER: It's specified as "Riser Rated". That means it is intended to be run indoors in ceilings and risers and in the event of a fire, toxic fumes from the jacket are minimized. There is nothing that indicates that this particular cable is rated for outdoor or underground use.

What connector ends should I use with this cable? Male and Female? It would help if you had a “works best with” product recommendation on the site.

BEST ANSWER: This is a solid wire cable so typically it’s ran in walls/ceilings and then terminated with a female keystone rj45 jack either in a wallplate or patch panel.
Versus a stranded wire cable is often terminated with male rj45 ends to connect the end device to the patch panel because stranded cable is more flexible and often times needed to be moved for service reasons. Solid cable ran through walls and ceiling often don’t move as much.
You could get away with male terminations; I just don’t think it’s best practice.

We use both the RJ45 ends as well as keystone Jacks. I try to always use keystone jacks unless I am doing cameras. They both do well. Hint: if you use the RJ45 jacks get the ones that has the little connectors that you put over the wire that keeps them aligned when you push the wires down into the main connector. I think Monoprice sell those, but I know Idea makes them as well.

You can use this as in wall cabling where you’d terminate to keystones (female connection), or used to make whatever length cables with male connectors. This is about as multi use as Ethernet cable gets.

Can these be ran underground?
Talal D

BEST ANSWER: I do not believe the cable is rated for direct burial. You could probably do it and expect moderate life (who knows 5+ years) but I would avoid any UG splices. My sister in law installed it in PVC conduit and that should provide very long life as long as you don't accidently dig it up and damage the conduit.

They are not rated for underground usage as in just burying the cable.
If you put it inside a conduit underground then sure its fine.
Google: "conduit cable fill calculator" if you are putting more than one strand in a conduit.

I noticed that the orange and orange-white pairs are twisted at a tighter configuration than the other wires. Is there a reason for this? And as a result, would it be preferred to wire this for 568A or 568B configuration.

Good day. No, it does not matter how tight or loose the wires are twisted as you will need to untwist them anyway in order to terminate the ends. Either 568a or 568b is fine, doesnt matter which one you use as long as the entire environment you're in (home or business network) uses the same configuration throughout. I personally used 568b to wire my house as thats the most widely used method in the industry.

Is this capable of doing a 10G connection below 50 meters?
A shopper
on Jan 31, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Cat6 is rated for 10Gbps up to 55 meters. That means anything beyond 55m, you may notice transmission issues or the link may be negotiated at a slower speed. Any runs under 55m should work perfectly fine, given all the pieces in your chain meet 10Gbps spec, ie cat6 or better keystone jacks.

Live up to its word of mouth and reviews. I am glad I bought this. Works well in my 1500 sq ft house and getting reliable 1Gbps. I don't have 10Gbps devices to test this out, but I am pretty much future proof for the next 10-15yrs I think. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for reliable and quality CAT6 cables.

Great price on solid line
haven't run ethernet line in 10 years. Cat6 is super nice with the separator inside. As always monoprice carries good stuff. If your coming from Cat5E like i am just be careful when you cut the jacket off of going too deep, i used the same tool i had and it nicked the lines and had lots of failures on my first attempts. once i scored the jacket less it worked perfectly.
