In my experience the TV plug needs to be connected to the monitor or playback device and the source plug attached to the device that originated the signal... I am running five of these cable types from 10' to 30' runs'.

It's critical. But it doesn't REALLY matter because the cable probably won't work for you either way, especially in 4k. Stay away from this cable.

This cable is omni-directional. Both ends are exactly the same, so it's entirely unimportant which way you connect it.

Will this cable support Dolby Atmos?
New User U
on Feb 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will support Dolby Atmos. It may not be able to pass all the new features that come with a 4K upgrade, though, due to it only being rated at 10.2Gbps. To be fully able to pass everything, it needs to be 18Gbps rated. For only a little bit more, you can get one rated at that speed here (take note to change the color and size to get the best price):

Yes, I have played Atmos encoded blu-rays from a player over this cable. I don't think there is a cable specific support requirement for this, if it carries the audio at all it will carry Atmos or DTS:X and the like, but in case I'm wrong, I can say that this cable does carry Atmos for me.

BEST ANSWER: See this article (substitute 'dot' with an actual '.' ) www dot bluejeanscable do com articles/inwallrating dot htm if the cable is not rated for in-wall, it is in violation of the electrical code. It is NOT recommended to put non-CL2 or CL3 rated wiring in your walls. Use the right wire... besides, why use premium, slim wiring when it will be hidden??? The previous answers make no sense.

BEST ANSWER: We found that 30-foot passive cable would not work when the source was a smart phone. We switched to an active cable and it works fine. Just remember that an active cable is directional (Only one end is specified as "source"). When the source was a computer, both the active and passive 30-foot cables worked fine.

If the cable is less than about 40ft, the difference between active and passive is mostly the specs alone. So if the passive cable has the same bandwidth, rating & HDCP as the active one; save money and go with the less expensive cable which is usually the passive one. I hope this helps. In my install business, we only use active cables when the run is longer than a passive cable will handle.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. With the cable being such a small gauge and it being passive it wouldn't be recommended to use a passive cable in that gauge. Unless it is an Active HDMI cable, such as Product ID 13592.
https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024014&p_id=13592&seq=1&format=2
The thing about Active HDMI cables is that they are directional. You would want to make sure that the side labeled Source is plugged into the source device and the side labeled Display or TV is connected to the TV. It will not work if plugged in backwards. I hope this helps.
