I have the Monoprice 6-zone amp and an available RJ45 input on the hub to which all wall plates are connected. If I buy this Bluetooth receiver, will I also need the RJ45 to RCA converter? Or can I simply plug in the Cat 6 cable to that open input?

You have to have the converter because the bluetooth reciever is not a zone or a controler. It has to plug in to the converter to be able to plug in to a source input.

Any chance you can share dates/details of the "additional source keypads"? Or recommend a third party option? I am hoping the obvious RCA to Ethernet option exists to provide an end-to-end RCA option for transferring input over long distance.

So, this looks like it connects to two separate keypads, each with their own output, right? Does it require 1 or 2 power sources, or is the output linkable to multiple units? A manual posted or additional specs would be helpful.

1. Yes the transmitter sends power to the Bluetooth receiver.
2. My understanding is that this item only takes an input from a CAT5/6 cable and outputs RCA to an amp. I don't know how you would use a turntable with this.

It would have been nice to see in the online documentation that an amplifier should be used between this (13356) and the speakers.
Is an amplifier really needed? Also if no amp is used how is volume controlled? Is that via the attached blue tooth device?

Monoprice RJR-2 Multizone RJ45 to RCA Converter
Monoprice Multizone Source with Bluetooth Receiver
Monoprice Aria Ceiling Speakers 6.5in Polypropylene 2-Way (pair)
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you need an amp.
The Bluetooth receiver converts that signal to audio over Cat 6 (or whatever it’s called). The RJ45 unit converts that signal to analog audio at line levels. If you plugged-in your analog earbuds to it, it would work, but that isn’t what you’re doing (I assume).
You need an amp to drive the speakers, just like in any other loudspeaker application.

This is simply rj45 to 2 channel rca converter for LR 2 channel only. I would recommend to use 2.1 amplifier that gives you much more flexibility. Cheapest one I could find is 36376. It allows rj45 and Bluetooth input. Then you connect your pair of speakers for output.

I'm getting a huge amount of RF interference on this system that I've isolated to this device. I originally considered turning the box it's mounted in into a Faraday cage, but of course that would be a serious impediment to the bluetooth performance. Can anything be done to shield this device from outside interference while maintaining bluetooth performance? The cables are run under my house so I'd really like to avoid re-pulling with shielded wires.

BEST ANSWER: You need to isolate the problem. It’s either between the Bluetooth unit to the converter, or between the converter to your amp. Get a short Ethernet cable and put the unit close to the converter. Does it still have interference? If yes then it’s the connection between the converter and the amp.

Works great, note is has limiting issues with volume all the way up
Using this with the bluetooth wall plates, and whole home amp. everything works great. I did find that if the small volume knobs are turned all the way up it limits volume in huge swings between loud and quiet parts of songs and sounded awful. I turned down those a bit, and now it sounds much better.

A good home audio solution
This works quite well in conjunction with the Bluetooth to RJ-45 audio receiver. Loud enough and noise-free as long as I dont run the signal through my network patch panel (whats up with that?).

Easy to setup, possible ground loop hum source...
I have this as an input to my MP 6-zone amp and there's a pronounced hum on this channel. It's linked to the MP Bluetooth outlet. So the only power is from this adapter in the loop. I've tried plugging this into the same outlet as the 6-zone to reduce ground-loop hum but no diff.
Note, this is not a grounded plug so could that be an issue?

Does exactly what it is intended for
This interface unit has one specific job, to connect to one or two of the Bluetooth wall plate receivers (item#13358) with an Ethernet cable. Without this, the wall plate receivers don't work, so yes, if you are ordering #13358 you need one of these! It does exactly what it is supposed to do, which is power the wall plate units and translate the audio signal from the wall plates into RCA line level jacks which you can then connect to your amplifier or receiver etc. There is only one adjustment, a separate volume control for each wall plate unit. Nice, simple, effective, and required if you want to play Bluetooth from your phone or mp3 player through a standard home audio system, or perhaps something fancier like a multi zone amplifier. This unit needs to be placed within a few feet of your stereo, but the remote wall plates can be anywhere from right next to the stereo to a couple of hundred feet away (not sure what the longest distance supported is, but it's probably further than most people need)
