Hello..I installed a 100w in-wall volume control. It only has sound on the last 4 volume clicks of the dial. The rest are just silence. Did I buy one that was too powerful? Should I have purchased the 50w?

BEST ANSWER:Do your speakers have transformers? If they are low z speakers then you need a low z VC not a 70V etc.
Is it okay to only use this with one speaker? I am repurposing a few in ceiling speakers for use in some smaller rooms in my home. The plan is to have 1 zone on my sonance amp outputting 2 channels in mono. The speakers will be in separate rooms so I would like them on independent volume controls. Does the jumper system support just a single 8 ohm speaker?
Good product. I bought a few of these in the past. One came defective but it was replaced instantly without question. Good quality product. Good reputable company.
I guess it boils do to you get what you pay for. I will say that I received these relatively quickly after purchasing them. During installation I noticed that there is not enough room in a single gang box for the unit and wire. The terminal blocks do not click in for a secure fit. I had to pull the unit out a couple of time to reconnect the block to the unit. I also noticed that the balance of the two speakers would change as I increased and vise-versa.
The biggest problem with this device is that it is too big to fit into even an extra deep electrical box. I had to modify my boxes with a Dremel tool to get them to fit. I think maybe these need special boxes, but that wasn't made clear. And I wanted them in double boxes.
Then, the connectors are not seated very positively and would become disconnected when inserting the unit in the box. So I had to wrap them with electrical tape to get them to stay, which added size making fitting even harder.
Once in the wall, these work great! I have no loss of signal when running multiple speakers like I did with a simple a switch.
CONS: Large single box order only had the volume controls damaged. We assumed the four volume controls were damaged prior to shipping since no other items were damaged.

Works great
Use thae on a custom install I had this weekend and arrange five speakers to two of these
PROS: Works fine...after a little fine running of the speaker wire
Wish quality control could look at the parts before they are shipped. It's almost as if some of these items were returned once and someone snatched a part or two???
PROS: ordered two and one was broken on the slider
CONS: one was broken on the slide and had to return, only after returning the previous one that was also missing clips. A bit disappointing. The one that does work seems to work quite well.
Used for adding control to in-wall speakers in extra rooms. Was not looking for audiophile listening, just for background music. This item worked perfectly...and the price was fantastic for the quality.
PROS: Metal enclosure, does exactly what it is supposed to do.
Wiring terminal slips right off for easier wiring installation. The internals are large, so you will need to be careful when putting the wires back in the box.
Knob works smooth better the others I have purchased.
Looks great on the wall and adjust the volume just as expected.
PROS: Easy to install. Works great. Comes with cover plate.
