I am trying to use this splitter to connect the audio output of my TV to a sound bar and a hearing aid device. So far I can only get audio from one side of the splitter and the hearing aid device will not work at all. Any suggestions ?

BEST ANSWER: Check the audio settings on the TV. If its set to dolby or 5.1 the sound bar may work but the hearing aid device won't set it to PCM that is the digital form of stereo, it may lite it up. It may be that the built in DAC's in the 2 end devices can't decode the same signal. Google DAC there is a lot of info on this. Years ago Monoprice had volumes of educational material, try looking there to. By the way the splitter did not work for my system setup, one too many splitters.

That sounds like the same problem I had, connecting TV audio to a sound bar and a radio transmitter to earphones. I had some kind of physical problem plugging the single input into my TV that I can't remember the details of. But after struggling with it for days I gave up and purchased a different type unit that had a 6 inch cable permanently attached to the single input, and everything has worked perfectly for the past two years.

Some brands of Toslink cables ALMOST fit, and in my case that was the problem. Also, the TWO outputs are side-by-side, and the one input is ONLY at the pointy end. Are you sure your hearing aid device is compatible with digital optical signals, i.e. Toslink? Try swapping hearing devise and sound bar in order to verify signal continuity.

I had also purchased an enhancement device from Avantree (Avantree Oasis Plus Bluetooth Transmitter & Receiver), which enables the use of headphones with the TV and/or soundbar. The splitter was purchased with advice of a friend, turned out to be unnecessary, and is sitting on a nearby shelf. I'm very happy with the present arrangement

I tried to split my optical output from my TV to a sound bar and a wireless headphone set with that same results as you. I had to buy a powered splitter to get both units to work. I purchased a 3 output J-Tech model - Monoprice has a 4 output powered splitter but it is on backorder right now.

I purchased this to split the sound to a sound bar and headphones. It would not work. I talked to tech support and they recommended a powered splitter that they sell. I purchased it and it works perfectly. Product 13342

I am trying to have my tv and my Echo Dot go into my soundbar at the same. Theoretically, I can be watching tv and use Alexa at the same time. Would this be possible with this splitter? (I would use an aux to optical cord coming from the echo dot). Please help

BEST ANSWER: With this splitter, you CAN have two things running into the same soundbar. You CANNOT, however, have the two things output audio at the same time since their digital signals will interfere with each other (the soundbar will simply make no sound if the Alexa and the TV are outputting at the same time. The reason for this is that your two devices will each be sending a string of 1s and 0s at the same time over the same cable, and the soundbar simply won't be able to decode it. Now if you don't plan on using your TV and Alexa at te same time, this splitter should work just fine for that. I have a PS2 and an original Xbox both plugged into this splitter, which then sends the signal out to my AV reciever. If only one of the two consoles is activated, the system works perfectly, but if I turn both consoles on at the same time, no audio comes through.

No. This splits 1 source into 2 outputs--like your TV into a soundbar and into a headphone set. It does NOT go the other way- if you want this to do two inputs and one output, you have to turn the input you aren't using completely off- meaning the optical cable coming out of the off device cannot have a red light glowing on it. For what you want, you need something far more advanced than this.

This is a splitter, so it will not be expected to work as an integrator. Its passive, so it might work, but I wouldn't bet on it. I think that you need a mini amp with 2 optical inputs, not a splitter.

I dont believe that will work. This device is meant to work as a splitter, not combiner. And even as a splitter, it doesn't work very well.

BEST ANSWER: Both original and replacement Monoprice sent only had 1 output that worked. And on 1st one, got audio pops every 2-3 seconds on the working output. Your results probably depend on quality of unit you get. Cannot speak to quality of split signal since never got a split to work.

I want to run optical cable from TV to one soundbar directly above TV and to another soundbar directly across room requiring approx. 35 feet of optical cable but descriptions say the splitter has no loss of sound up to 16 ft of cable. Also I need one male end on one end and 2 females on other end of splitter (male end would insert into TV) Any suggestions ? Run 3 or 4 10ft. cables with male/female connectors in between ?

Monoprice S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Splitter

Monoprice S/PDIF Digital Optical Audio Adapter, Female Toslink to Male Mini Toslink
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. We would not have a splitter with a male end. Perhaps using a short optical cable will be best. As for the length, you could run into issues splitting the signal and running the length needed. You can try it out if you would like, we do offer a 30 day return policy and you can return it if it does not work out for you.

I bought this S/S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Splitter to take output signal from tv to sound bar input and also receiver input but it’s not working. I can see red optical light signal at all points but no sound from any device. Each device works without splitter when device is connected independently. Suggestions?

I want to hook up 2 Optical cables into this to run to my AV Receiver, am I reading right that as long as you only have say one DVD player "ON" and say a CD player "OFF" and my Blu-ray 4K Ultra player "OFF" there's no problem of the splitter working correctly, I have three things with optical and only two in-puts on my receiver and need room for three, so will this work this way or not? Thanks!

Does not work
I was replacing another passive splitter where only one port still works. This didn't work, so I bought new cables since I figured that might be the issue, but even with brand new cables, no output from this. I tried multiple devices and none worked.

Didn't Work - Needed a Powered Splitter
This unit did not work for my application. It seems that I needed a powered unit. Not Monoprice's fault. Beware buying this if you need a power boost to get sufficient flowthrough after splitting. Buy a powered unit instead.

The splitter did not work with 2 of my 3 brand-new toslink cables (cable ends not going far enough in, and (consequently??) no signals coming out). When I desperately tried to force the cables further into the splitter, the black plastic inlet "ports" broke. I need something better.
