Are these speaker cables "unshielded" cables?

BEST ANSWER: These are not speaker cables. Do not use them to connect your amp head to a cabinet. They are instrument cables.

No they're not, but they can be used for speakers, unshieled can't be used for instrument or mixing etc.

All the negative reviews have come from people who use these as instrument cables and that's what I'm looking for as well but it seems obvious that these are NOTrecommended for instrument cables (the blue cloth ones are!!!). Why hasn't Monoprice spoken up to clear this up??? If these are not instrument cables and they are not speaker cables... What are they???

BEST ANSWER: It seems everyone has the same question, and you are right to point out that only Monoprice can clear this up. There are two pieces of conflicting info about these 16 AWG TS cables (and the 16 AWG TSR cables).Clearly 16 AWG cables will conduct signal better than 20 AWG cables. But Monoprice has an admonition at the bottom of their product pages that these cables have 97% shielding compared to their cloth 20 AWG cables that have 99% shielding. And it's that 2% difference that must lead to noise. Hence the recommendation to use the 20 AWG cables for instrument to amp applications. I need a stereo TSR cable with right angle 1/4 inch connectors for my OBEL circuit guitar, but Monoprice only seems to make that in the 16 AWG cable that they don't recommend. In the 20 AWG cables I can't seem to find stereo with right angle 1/4 inch connectors. It's enough to pull your hair out, and Monoprice really needs to listen to their customers and offer more selection and clarify the problems with the 16 AWG cables.

Which cable does monoprice offer that works as a speaker cable to connect an amplifier to a Speaker cabinet?

BEST ANSWER: I've been looking for 1/4" to 1/4" speaker cables for years but for some reason Monoprice won't carry them. They also seem very confused about some of their cables and this one is one of them. It's not an instrument cable and it's not a speaker cable.

Well built...could use a little thicker gauge
I was hoping for a thicker cable to run out of my guitar amp but this will be fine. The ends stay put and that's really all I require other than gauge.

Monoprice quarter inch right angle to same
I originally purchased these cables for use with my effect pedals. Upon receiving them and seeing that they are high quality. I then decided to use them to daisy chain the two channels of my two vintage JMP MK2 1987s and my vintage 1987 Tremelo 50. There is no excessive noise. The signal is clear and doesn't break up at low volumes. The cable allows me to use the two channels of the amplifier in unison and by using the two channels volumes I'm able to warm or brighten the overall sound. These are high quality cables. Especially good pedal effect connectors if you need a little more length in your cable, especially compared to the common 6 inch right to same pedal patch cable

Good Cables
These cables were quality items and had Amphenol connectors.
They were priced fairly, but the free shipping was very slow compared to other web stores.

ZERO STARS
Not recommended. Read all the microphonic reviews dating back to at least 2013. I bought two. Complained to Monoprice who sent two replacements. The cables are consistently microphonic and useless. For the intended application these get zero stars.

Well made patch cords
These patch cords are well made with apparently heavy duty yet flexible cable. I also like having the option of the realtively uncommon length of 1.5 ft.
My only wish is that the same cords were available in 1.0 ft length as I could use some of this as well.
