18 AWG. It's imprinted on the cables used in the adapter.

Is the Monoprice 8494 cable compatible with the Seasonic Focus SGX-500 watt PSU?

on Aug 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The SGX-500 comes with several SATA cable that have female SATA power connecters which will work with the 8494. However, if you are purchasing the SGX-500 new, it should come with the six-pin cable you need.

Thanks Chaz D. I appreciate your answer. I have the Seasonic Focus SGX-500 PSU in my computer. It came with one SATA power cable which has one 6 pin PSU connector x three 15 pin SATA connectors. Two of the SATA connectors are connected to my two hard drives and the third connector cable is too short to reach the the PCIE USB 3.0 Expansion Card Hub Controller w/SATA Power. I am thinking about buying the Monoprice 8494 cable for the USB 3.0 Expansion Card.. Thanks again for you response.

I have a modular power supply. Can this go from the six pin to my SATA device without issue?

MonoPrice 8494 SATA Power Cable
Nice cable. For my purposes it was not long enough. Wish the cable was at least 16 inches.

It just works!
My GTX 1060 card has been running for over a week now with graphic intensive games, not issues with the power supply to the graphic card from this cable.

Such a great cable!
This cable saved me from having to buy a whole new power supply when I added a graphics card to my Dell Tower. was easy to install and the price was amazing. Unlike the Molex adapters this one only uses one power plug instead of two.

PROS: Works fine but just isn't long enough.
CONS: I had to canabalise another PCIE cable off an old machine to splice in to make it longer. Major hassle!

I noticed one reviewed complained on it only have 5 internal terminals. The reason for this is because you need two sata power connectors to be able to deliver enough wattage to match the 6-pin spec.
With only one power you are missing a 12v rail connection, if you are trying to power a high powered GPU with this and your PSU lacks the connections to run it, then that PSU needs to be replaced and I'm pretty sure this product isn't for you.
(I would suggest getting the dual molex to 6-pin for such things)
I noticed that when putting a heavy load on my GPU, the fan speed will decrease (with the fan manually set to 100%)
I am pretty sure this is caused by my PSU's poor 12v rail and/or the GPUs ability to balence out power draw- It might not be an issue if there was a second sata power on this cable, but I'm not sure with it so please take that with a grain of salt.
PROS: It allowed me to power my old HD 5750 without any trouble.
CONS: only has one sata power input? (not much of a con as this is designed to require such)

Not all 6 pins are used!
This will work if you are using a lower end video card where you can get away with using only 5 pins. I've tried my ATI 7850 and it did not want to work, not enough juice!
Kinda wish Monoprice would have taken a picture of the front of the 6pin connector where you could see only 5 contacts as it would have saved me time and $.
PROS: Looks like a decently made cable.
CONS: Only 5 pins of the 6 are used!
