what is the termination on the back? screw or male or female?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in the wall plate. This unit terminates to bare wire. You will need to solder raw cable.

Neither. I purchased this wall plate and I had to solder the wires to the solder lugs on the back of XLR plug that is attached to the plate. I took a picture to try to show you, but I was unable to include it in my response. I hope my answer helps you.

The termination on the back is actually three solder points labeled 1, 2 and 3 for each strand of your XLR cable.

Great Plugs
I needed to add more microphone plugs. I purchased these and they work great.
I took a picture of the wallpaper these were being installed on. I then used Mod Podge to put the printed picture on this wall plate. It blends in now.
I did not count on the picture looking darker after gluing it on. The brushed metal finish took the glue well.

XLR female plate
The plate is perfect, although the picture is incorrect. The connector is mounted on a rectangular surround, the same as the dual XLR male plates, and is interchangeable... screw hole placement the same, etc.

nice receptacle
I plan on using these for a pulpit mic on the pulpit. I like the idea flat mounting. Not sure if it is going to be the solution I'm looking for but for the money I will find a use for them.
PROS: These seem to be pretty good quality for the money. Although I haven't had a chance to install the product yet.
CONS: It would be nice to have a few faceplate choices.

The connectors are great and the plates look good! Only surprise was that there were no mounting screws with the wall plates. Not a problem if you know that, but it did prompt an extra run to the store for me.
PROS: Great fit, solid latch, but not to tight to remove the connectors when you want to like some.
CONS: No mounting screws for the wall plate.

Good for the price
I had purchased one and it became defective and monoprice was quick to send a replacement. Thank you monoprice. My number one place to shop. Hopefully in the future they come up with solderless face plates
