BEST ANSWER: This Stands for Wire Guage. if you looking to terminate cat5/e you probably want the solid type unless of course your wire is actually stranded?

AWG is usually 24 awg for cat 5 or 6. It can be 28 but that is not common. If you are asking what awg itself means.. it is American Wire Gauge

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
These are regular Rj-45 connectors and since those all have the same size port it will fit into those connectors.

RJ45 Plugs
These plugs work perfect and are better than what I've purchased in the past and at a better price!!

Not to spec and won't click into equipment
I know these are cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. These will not fit into equipment securely. The plugs just fall back out which will cause you nightmares on a network. I would not recommend buying these.

Great price!
Exactly as described. Works perfectly. I made my own "extension cord."

Worth the price and wait. They are just as good as any other RJ45 mod end.

Ok, but clips don't work well
These ends are easy to thread and easy to crimp but they don't click into place tightly when plugging them into a switch or product which makes them really useless. I usually can bend the clip a little to make it lock into place a little better but this doesn't always work. Next time I'll purchase a higher quality clip and listen to the reviews.
PROS: cheap
CONS: they just don't "click" into place.

Poor quality plugs that don't click after crimped
I use the Monoprice crimp tool (product 8139) and the retaining tab on the plug smooshes flat and won't click after being crimped. This seems to happen with every plug. I face the same issue with Cat6 plugs (product 7266).
With all these plugs, I always have to flare out the retaining tab by hand after crimping, so that it sticks out better and then the plug clicks and fits perfectly in the jack. Although this is a workaround, it also potentially makes the retaining tab weaker.
Other brand plugs from a local hardware store work without any issues. It seems like a design defect.

Not terrible for the price, but my Klein crimping tool and these connectors don't get along too well. If I squeeze the crimper together as hard as I'm used to for most connectors the retaining tab gets squeezed down and doesn't click into place, I've never had that happen to me before I used these monoprice connectors.
I do not think I'll be buying these again as they do feel *really* cheap and with how annoyingly easy it is to make the tab useless I don't see their price being worth it. I'll stick to the much, much higher quality (but of course more expensive) Ideal brand connectors I've used from Home Depot.

Doesn't fit
These connectors are really tight and we've had no success sliding any Cat 5e wires into the connector. It seems any cable with thicker gauge or insulation does not work. Maybe this is only for 28AWG cable?
