Will this splitter output mono or stereo audio to both ends?

BEST ANSWER: This splitter adapts the 3.5mm plug end which is a stereo connection then splits the signal into a Right channel and a Left channel for RCA type connection. RCA connections are usually color coded (Red for Right channel, White or Black for Left channel) wich was one of the most popular hook ups for stereo amps and receivers in the past before digital and HDMI etc... This adapter is not color coded on the output side but thats not really important since you can interchange the RCA connections if needed. So Stereo originally is two seperated signals played at the same time adding depth and balance to the sound.

Stereo - I used this on an amazon dot to connect to a Bose stereo radio right and left aux in.. Works great !!

Have you tested it? Aren't stereo to mono spliters color coded on the output (one red one white)? How do you know which is which otherwise? From the look of it, it seems that the output is dual mono here.

The plug is DEFINITELY stereo. Look at the 3.5 mm male plug. There are 2 black separators 3 separate connections. One left one right one common. A mono plug would have only one black separator 2 connections. It would be better if the 2 RCA aux out connectors were marked left (l) and right (r). You have to experiment to figure out which is left and which is right. Unless you use an ohm meter.

No audio marking - good quality
Good quality, but there is no marker for left/right audio. I added a bit of paint to one side to help me differentiate in the future.

Nice connector for laptop
Nice connector. Only thing to be aware of is that if you are using this with your phone, make sure your case is very slim. The connector does not account for a thick case.

Spares in case I need them
Bought these as I wasn't sure how I was going to hook things up to the PC. Fortunately, all I needed to do was get an A/V receiver, plug into that, and go to the TV for use as a monitor and the sound is going thru the A/V to the 7.1s.

Perfect Solution
For those of us who remain attatched to our vintage stereo equipment that is still sounding great in my books, this affordable little jewel is the perfect solution for getting bigger sound from TV, Bookshelf internet radio, smart phone, etc. using headphone jack as line out to RCA input of my old workhorse amp.
