Yes, but you'll want to waterproof the wire connections. Each speaker comes with a proprietary plug that screws onto the back which creates a waterproof connection at that point. The other end has the exposed red and black wires that you will have to wire to other bare speaker wire. You will either want that connection point to be inside the elements or use something like heat shrink wraps or waterproof wire nuts when you do the connections.

It seems that the mount only moves in one direction, but I would think a typical installation might need to tilt the speakers down while also panning left to right to get the angle of sound correct. How do most people mount these? Vertically but lower than 8' so they don't have to tilt down? Horizontally and both speakers just point straight out? Any advice on how best to situate them if I wanted the speakers up a little and the ability to pan them a little left to right would be greatly appreciated.

They only pivot in one direction. If you need more fine tuning in the other axis, use shims behind the mounts. These are dang good speakers for the price, and what you give up with that lower price is some extra mobility on the mounts.

I installed 4 of these speakers on my patio. I put them on the wall close to the ceiling (probably about 9 feet up) then tilted them downward. You are right that they only tilt one way. I installed these horizontal (side to side). They look good and work just fine.

The mounts are like every other speaker mount. An idea I have is to drill a hole in the center and use 1 center bolt or lag strong enough to hold it. Then you can rotate on that axis and tilt the other way with the std set up. Hope this helps

I mounted horizontally so I could tilt downward and with a single lag I could orientate as needed.

The XLS1502 is 150W into 4 ohms. The monoprice speakers are 8 ohms each. If you wire two speakers in parallel (not series) you will reflect 4 ohms to the amp channel. That would work an sound fine. If you are trying to put a higher quantity of speakers on a single zone you should look into a 70V system (amp and speakers).

A 70-volt system doesn't necessarily imply a better quality or better sounding system. The 70-volt design is strictly a convenience for wiring multiple speakers in a simple parallel wiring configuration which helps minimizes wiring and labor. Ultimately the quality of the 70-volt to 8-ohms step down transformer at each speaker and the speaker itself determines the overall quality. for that matter, you can take ANY Low-Impedance (i.e. 4 or 8-ohm) speaker and a properly wired 70-volt transformer and connect it into a 70-volt sound system.

Correction on my previous response. The 1502 is 525W per channel. That is a lot of power for a little 40W speaker. Be careful on level

Thank you for the help. Is there an amp you would suggest over this for what I need... what I need is an amp that delivers the same input to two zones. Zone 1 will have two speakers; Zone 2 should have up to four speakers. I just want different volumes for the two zones. Having a hard time figuring out how to accomplish this.
Putting four 8ohm speakers on a 4-8 ohm amp channel is not recommended. You seem to need 4 amp outputs even though you only have 2 zones. If you want to stay with higher end like Crown (which I love) you can look at the CT475 or CT4125. These are 4 channel amps with 75 and 125W per channel respectively. If you think you may expand they also have CT8xxx wich is 8 channel. These amps are a step up from XLS series. You could also buy 2 XLS series amps, but look at the XLS1002 (350 w per channel). If you want to do it on the cheap get a couple of home stereo amps. You can feed amp 2 from the MD/tape output of amp 1 (whatever input you are listening to is always directed to this output). then input on amp 2 will be the same as amp 1. choices... Monoprice does have multichannel amps, but I have not tried them. I do like their outdoor speakers
You can do 2 8ohm speakers per channel, that drops the load to 4 ohm. 4 speakers per zone 2 speakers per channel

The grilles can be removed. I had to remove them to make some modifications to the x-over. They are held in place by caulking, but they can be pried off and replaced. Just make sure not to get any of the caulking on any of the drivers, or your clothes, etc.

The connector is an waterproof (IP65?) connector. There is a pigtail included with each speaker for connecting standard speaker wire. The connectors are plastic, so don't apply too much force when plugging/unplugging.

Good for $35, but could be improved...
These speakers are advertised as having 5.25" woofers, but the size seems closer to that of a 4.5"~5" woofer.. Both the woofer and tweeter seem to be a non-standard size, which would make replacement a bit difficult if you manage to blow one of them. There are no x-over components on the woofer and 4.7 uF capacitor in series with the tweeter which seems a bit high, considering its size.
As a result of the simple x-over, there's no baffle-step correction and considerable overlap between the response of the woofer and tweeter, which results in a fairly bright-sounding speaker. This brightness is in the 2kHz to 10 kHz region, so even if the speaker was mounted on a wall under the eaves (which would address the baffle-step issue), it will still sound a bit bright.
I tried out different and complicated x-over designs to see if I can address both the brightness and the baffle-step correction, then I reminded myself that the pair of speaker cost $35, so I settled on a simple x-over - just a 0.68mH inductor in series with the woofer and a 2.5 uF capacitor in series with the tweeter. This flattened the response considerably and the speaker sounds a lot less bright.
I also added a bit of stuffing to the cabinet, but the resonance frequency of the bass driver in the cabinet is still just over 100 Hz, so I didn't expect much bass and it didn't deliver any. Still, when I tried it out with some of the subwoofers I had on hand, the combination sounded acceptable.

These speakers work well with minimal wattage receivers. High watt speakers tend to distort with most home stereos. It?s hard to find speakers matched to a mid-priced stereo receiver.

Bracket Rust
I mounted the speakers on the radar arch in my sailboat. The speakers seem very waterproof and robust. The input connection is sealed with an O ring and the housing and grill appear to be a non corroding alloy. The sound is about what you would expect of a small speaker in free air.
However, the bracket appears to be nothing but painted steel and is already beginning to rust after less than a year. I am not looking forward to trying to fabricate a new bracket out of stainless or aluminum so will probably be forced to replace these due to the bracket failing.
