Where do I get a 16 in 1 security adapter power cable?
A shopper
on Apr 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: You don't.
You get DC power plugs, put pigtails (short wires) on them, put them on the screw terminals in the power supply box, and plug them into the siamese power/video cables.
Or (my usual method) you just cut off the power plug on the siamese cable (leave enough wire on them to allow you to use the cut off plugs somewhere else), strip the wires, and connect them to the screw terminals directly. You can splice lengths of wire to the siamese cable power conductors if there isn't enough length to get the power cable in the supply box directly.

The power supply has its own cord. You just wire your cameras into the power supply.

Depends on the size of battery backup and number of things hooked up to it. You have to calculate the watts of each item hooked up against the capacity of your battery backup. Normally each battery back has a chart of time on the box. Hope it helps.

Anyone actually measure, with a multi-meter, how many amps per channel? Trying to see if I can use it for something else that is not a camera. I need 12V 1.5AMPs min. Thanks!

Monoprice 8 Channel CCTV Camera Power Supply - 12VDC - 13Amps

Monoprice 4 Channel CCTV Camera Power Supply - 12VDC - 5 Amps
Why does the 16-channel unit support only 10 amps when the 8-channel version supports 13 amps?

Monoprice 16 Channel CCTV Camera Power Supply - 12VDC - 10Amps

Monoprice 8 Channel CCTV Camera Power Supply - 12VDC - 13Amps
Noticed a couple cameras appeared to be glitching (flickering, sometimes no power). Switched cameras and the issue continued. Thought it might have something to do with the power supply. I can hear a cracking/ sizzling type sound coming from the power supply. Nothing is sparking or arcing. Is this a sign that the power supply is going out?

Use for Lutron Serena cellular shades
This was awesome for the shades. So much cheaper than the $500 Lutron power supply. There are no smarts needed - just needs to supply 12 V. I can run all the shades in my house at once with no issues.

Not bad, but no replaceable fuses?
Even with the COVID chaos happening out there, Monoprice was quick to deliver this item to me. We had an old power supply unit croal on us when we had our electric pole across the street get zonked by lightning. The new unit was pretty self explanitory. You will need pigtails for this unit if you do not already have them. I popped out one preunched hole and used a romex connector on the box. it was a tight fit, but I managed to get 8 of the pigtails through it and helped stabilize the wires alot. No problems so far it powers the HC security cameras through 100 foot cables. If it wasn't for the fact that there aren't any removable fuses in this unit, its fine.

Not bad wish had more space
Haven't quite finished installing but as of right now it looks good definitely helps with reduction of power cords and outlets needed to supply power 4 all of my cameras wish there was a little more room between the positive a negative terminals on the camera side of the board just to keep things a little bit neater inside the panel

Worked for 19 months
Installed late October 2017 - I was initially impressed with the space savings with this power supply. It was a good product for 18 months, then started to burn out slowly. It finally failed on May 31, 2019. A couple of rectifiers burnt up before the power supply fuse blew, but it did protect all the camera banks (channels). Back to the original spaghetti set-up, as I'm still undecided if I'm going to replace. ~ Keith M. ~
