The connectors are different for the subs on the 7.2 faceplate, what kind of wire and connector do i need to run to the sub woofer?

BEST ANSWER: The sub connectors are for a coaxial cable (the same as what cable TV runs through). So it screws on to the back, and on the front it's a normal RCA connection. I used this in our basement reno and it's great. In my sub location I put a single port plate on the wall with regular screw-on coax connector on the back, and the RCA connection on the front for the sub.

You would need a mono RCA cable. Google RCA sub-woofer cable - something like pid# 2743. To have more versatility, you may buy #5346.
I made a mistake of not thinking about it and running a speaker wire to my sub locations. I have to buy an RCA plug which can use speaker wire.
Good luck

I only had 5.1 so I just designated a different port for my sub and was able to use regular speaker wire. You would have to splice from speaker wire to RCA plug

On the distribution plates the port for the subwoofer has a coaxial connector what type of wire is used to make that connection?

BEST ANSWER: Hello, I'm not sure of the exact cable type, but it's an RCA connector on the plate. I'm sure you can use any type of cable that you can put an RCA connector on. Hopefully that helps.

That's a standard subwoofer cable, see example I added which will work with this plate (make sure it's compatible with your subwoofer's output, of course)
Monoprice 3ft Coaxial Audio/Video RCA Cable M/M RG59U 75ohm (for S/PDIF, Digital Coax, Subwoofer & Composite Video)

The port for the subwoofer is NOT a coaxial connector. It's actually an RCA connection. Use single pair speaker wire.

I have all my wires ran. I installed 14-4 wire. I plan on purchasing in-wall and ceiling speakers and subwoofer. And bi-wiring them. My question is which of your wall plates do I need to buy at the receiver side? Seeing I will have 40 wires to connect (9.1 or 9.2) surround sound. So they can then connect to the receiver properly.
Thank you very much for your help

great product
Different from image as it is 2 separate pieces but one plate. Layout of speakers is different as well. Will work great for 7.2 surround sound wiring and the connections are the same.

works well
Tolerances are a bit tight, and not sure why it shipped with the center as a RCA and the sub spot had the banana plug set, but that was easy to swap. Gives a nice clean patch panel from my in ceiling/wall surround speaker. Only issue was getting the plate cover plate (that is a little thin for my taste, but adequate, to line up nicely with the 2 plates

Great for a professional look.
Bought 2 of these for installation of my surround sound system. They look great when installed but you are unable to use the banana clips that are recommended for this product, PID# 2801. Attempted to use the banana clips on the front side but they were loose and did not make the proper connection. Ended up connecting with the bare wire instead of banana clips and sounds great.

mediocre at best
Bought because it was the only 2gang config I could find.
Same issue as others w/ loose banana plugs including ones purchased from Monoprice. Would rather have had clips on patch cords for front but ended up having to use spring terminals on the wall end of patch cords. Time consuming nuissance on the rare but inevitable equipment / furniture shuffle. Also spring terminals stick out from wall a bit more than I like. For spring terminal config plate should have been molded to recess into wall a bit to protect. Overall not great but got it done.

Banana Plugs don't go all the way in
The banana plugs do not seat all the way into the posts. They go about half way in and it seems they hit the spring loading mechanism used for putting bare wire in. I am concerned the banana plugs are not making good enough contact and that once all 7 channels are in they may sag into one another.
CONS: The banana plugs do not seat all the way into the posts. They go about half way in and it seems they hit the spring loading mechanism used for putting bare wire in.

Would not recommend this product
The biggest complaint is the F-type connector for the subs. Since I fished RCA wire for my subs, I am not in the process of getting a new plate or finding a RCA female to F-type male connector. I most likely will just get a new plate because the banana plug connectors are not very good.
PROS: 7.2 connections in a 2-gang wall plate
CONS: Poor banana plug connectivity. Subs connect through F-type connector.

OK, not great
It's reasonably well built, but not the best design. I ordered all my parts to wire up an extensive home theater and other rooms this weekend, and this item has caused me some delays. I'll return it and see what else I can find that has more secure connections. First time I've used monoprice so I'll see how easy it is to return or exchange items.
PROS: It'll keep your speaker cables tidy and it fits in a 2 gang. Plus it is one of the few that has 2 subwoofer connectors.
CONS: I do not like the push style connectors at all. As others have mentioned, there is too much of an issue with speaker connections moving and shorting. Having to connect all the wires and then push it back into the wall and secure, means a lot of movement. The loose posts just do not work.

Does what I need it to do
This plate was the perfect solution for me. The only down side, as some else has mentioned is that some of the connectors are a little loose in the plate. In my case, this means that, when banana plugs are used, the plugs can end up touching one another and shorting out. If Monoprice sold banana plugs with plastic or rubber sleeves, this wouldn't be a problem because the plugs would be insulated from one another. But, they only sell fully conductive banana plugs. So, this is an issue if you buy everything from Monoprice. I solved it by wrapping two of the banana plugs with electrical tape.
The second issue is the fact that the back of the subwoofer RCA jacks are f-connectors. This would be a great idea if Monoprice sold a corresponding keystone or wall plate with an f-connector on the back and RCA on the front. But, they don't. I don't know why they don't. The component needed to do so clearly exists, because it is installed in this wall plate. Instead, you need to use a plate with an f-connector on both sides and then use an F Female to RCA Male adapter on the cable. It works. But it's an inconsistent setup.
PROS: allows for a clean connection to 7 speakers and 2 subs
CONS: loose connectors means that surround speaker banana plugs short out.
