What is the maximum thickness of a desk that the bracket (lowest piece) can fit around? The top of my desk is exactly 2" thick. Would that bracket fit around a 2" tabletop?

BEST ANSWER: Hi, the clamp on this mount opens to a little over 1.5 inches, so it won't fit the 2" tabletop. You could check out the following mounts that could all work with a 2" desktop: Product #s: 5402, 7562, 16245, and 15526. Thanks.

I cannot use a clamp style. Can this be installed as a drill through?

on Feb 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It's not built for that. You would have to manually modify it significantly to mount it like that. It would probably require power tools and the handyman skills to do it.

how does the square piece attach to the back of the existing monitor?
A shopper
on Nov 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi, mounting hardware (screws and washers) are included for use with monitors with VESA mounting that matches the square pattern on this mount. Most modern screens already have the VESA mounting pattern standard, but you would need to check your specific monitor since some manufacturers may not have it. Thanks.

Will this handle a 14lb 34" screen with vesa 100mm?
Steve D
on Jan 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this could work but you would need to check if the monitor would fit. This mount has a maximum height of 16", if the center of your monitor's VESA mounts is less than 16", then it could work. However note that you will be limited height adjustment options by going above the recommended screen sizes. Thanks for checking.

What is the minimum depth required for the mounting clamp in order for the unit to be stable? I have a desk that has minimal overhang on the rear for attaching the clamp.
Steve B
on Aug 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi, you would need at least 3 inches for stable mounting, but more overhang would make it easier to use the tool to secure it. Alternatively, if you do not have enough overhang to make this work, you could consider our other newer monitor mounts that have through-hole mounting hardware included. Products 24587 and 15526 could be installed through a grommet hole or through a 1/4" drilled hole. Or you could consider adjustable free standing mounts like Products 36083 and 5970. Hope this helps.

Great value
I didn't even know I wanted this but when I saw the price I couldn't say no! I easily mounted it to my desk and attached my Dell U2717D without any issues. The included hardware worked perfect for assembly and would 100% recommend this mount arm if you're looking to clean up your desk.

Pretty Blown Away - Very sturdy construction
Super solid construction, those black parts might look plastic but they're TOUGH steel or aluminum. My desk is a little weird so setup was different but now I have a monitor mounted above my iMac and it works fantasticly.

Needs a lot of room!
I used this mount to install a TV in a travel trailer. The space for it was limited, and I wound up having to reduce the length of the vertical bar so that the mount would fit the space between a shelf and the ceiling of the trailer. I succeeded in trimming it. However, because of the way the mount is made, the TV points slightly upwards.

Some missing measurements
Some missing measurements:
Mounts to tables up to 4cm thick and the clamp part is 7cm long by 6.6cm wide , which means it won't work on desks like IKEA MELLTORP or TÄRENDÖ. For thick tables probably look for 5402 (no portrait position I think) or 7562 (more expensive and assembly required).
Weight: 2050g + 200g for the mounting plate
I can't comment on whether the monitor will sag since I support it with an empty bottle. For $25 there isn't really much to complain. "3-way adjustable" gives good flexibility, I pull it out to use and stow it back when I'm done.
PROS: Comes fully assembled
CONS: Allen key required to make adjustment (so don't lose them)
Doesn't mount to thicker tables

A new standard in our office
I purchased this unit expressly to use at home in my recording studio for voice-over. It took about fifteen minutes to set up. The unit was stiff and made me a little anxious about adjustments initially. Once I'd broken it in a bit, however, it was easy enough to adjust.
I was impressed enough with the stand, that I purchased another unit for my desk at work. It was quickly noticed by my co-workers, and has subsequently become the standard for our developers to use when coding, because it allows the screen to easily rotate 90 degrees to present the code in portrait view.
I rated this as 4 stars due to some areas where it could improve: greater ease in adjusting the height and greater firmness in the tilt. I think 4.5 stars is more accurate, but it wasn't an option. Regardless, it's a safe purchase, and Monoprice's support of their products is second to none.
PROS: Sturdy.
Easy to set up.
Flexible in terms of placement and most adjustments.
CONS: A little stiff initially.
Making adjustments to the vertical placement requires using the Allen wrench.
The tilt component is not as firm as I would like it to be.

Stand Failed
Stand had a design flaw. There are 4 tiny screws which attach the black base to the chrome post (it is not welded). The threads are very small. The screws pull out of the post and the stand and your monitor come crashing to the ground. I have submitted a support ticket, don't know what Monoprice will do, but I would stay away from this. The monitor I was supporting only weighed 6 lbs, so it was not overweight.

Works great, however when shipping out of the US, watch out for duty
Great mount, and surprisingly well built given the cost. It was missing one allen key, and the duty really did sour the buy, but, after it's up and mounted with the monitor, it looks and functions great.
PROS: * Mount is great quality
* Good support
* Works for 27' monitor
* No issues with mounting or movement
CONS: * Duty surprise ended up essentially doubling the cost of this mount. If in Canada, look at other sellers that sell from Canada
* Was missing an Allen key to mount. Not an issue as I have some, but was expecting as it came with one
* The monitor turns from 180 to 90 wayyy to easily. It's been tightened and everything that can be done to fix this has been tried, but still no luck
