Does this model have an arch top or a flat top?
A shopper
on Mar 23, 2023
BEST ANSWER: The Monoprice 66 Classic is a flat top guitar. Of importance is that it is passive - a battery is not used to boost the string signal so your Amp has that added duty to boost volume to your liking. The quality for the price point is astounding. The black model alters the feel and look of the maple versus the neck when left natural, but if you want an all black guitar one has to forgo an appealing maple neck. Definitely great for upgrading over time. The sound is more Gibson like than a Fender.

Mine was a flat top. Plays nice. Just needed to set the action and smooth the mild fret end sprout

What is the fretboard radius on the 66 Classic V2?
A shopper
on Mar 9, 2021
BEST ANSWER: It's fairly flat and I would say it is a 12 inch radius. I do think the neck is a bit on a smaller size compared with a Gibson but I like that because for me it makes it easier to play. I like the guitar a lot.

I read an online review that it was 350 mm, which is +/- 14inch, similar to ESP/LTD fretboards. The fretboard/heel of the neck is squared off for a zero overhang fretboard, that's even like the ESP/LTD brands neck. The neck pocket & neck pickup cavity is a continuous rout. There is no finished Poplar wood that separates the pocket from the pickup cavity there. Again ESP/LTD-like design.

Don't get all caught up in radius.
I have found that guitars with different neck sizes make you play slightly differently, expanding your style of play. Everyone's hand size, and how they hold the instrument is different anyways and the guitar in question is a little over $100 bucks so I would say buy it, play it, if you don't like it, sell it. Just my 2 cents worth.

The neck was too wide at the 12th fret area and it could be a lot smoother at the end of the frets

The deck was too wide Expression early you get down to the 12th fret area

Monoprice 66 Classic V2
Bought one of these locally as a pre-owned. To me it's a solid guitar all around. The 14 inch radius fretboard is ESP/LTD-like. I bought the Cherry Burst. Interesting approach to the neck pocket & neck pickup cavity, the rout is continuous and there is no finished wood in between The 22 fret neck, that's even ESP/LTD-like, the end of the heel is squared & the fretboard doesn't overhang over the body. The neck pickup trim ring is butted flush against the heel of the neck there.
Small pots, but they seem precise as brand new, play them until they prove upgrade worthy effort that day.
If an ESP/LTD is what you're after, this guitar doesn't/won't disappoint.
As for DCR, 8.15K Neck, 15.3K Bridge for this one. The actual guitar weighed in at 7.2 lbs. With the DCR's as they are, ESP/LTD's reputation for Thrash Metal in the 1980's (KISS, Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth & Slayer as notable bands), it's a guitar design that has stage cred. Just a matter of becoming a rock star. The V2 is an even more affordable alternative.

Meh
Very average sound but it is inexpensive. Returned due to short in pots.

Very nice Guitar
I got this Guitar to go with InDio ES335 Style Guitar. It was Set up well right out of the box. Only knock was the strings it came with. I strung it with D'Addarios XL 120s 42.-9. and it sounds Great.!!! This is a Good Guitar for the Money. The Gig Bag is Nice too. Good Job on the Finish as well.

A great modding platform
I would have rated this guitar about a 3 1/2, even though I really like it?even better than I liked the DLX models! I love the weight and balance, the neck feels very comfy, like the bolt on neck! Although the pickups sounded decent, I upgraded these first with a set of custom hand built - and holy smokes! I love it over Gibby's I've own before!
What I'm not so fond of? A little fret spout, but it cleaned up nicely. I don't like the small pots, but they work and sound good so not changing them. Also, not a fan of the tuners at all?I will replace them one day!
A great deal! I got it on sale so it was extra special! I don't regret buying it, and I with a little upgrading, it's become a keeper!

WOW
I was a bit hesitant at buying a Guitar at this low price point but I had a savings code and purchased this guitar for under $75.00, and to be honest, I was not expecting much at all.Once the guitar arrived I could not believe how nice it actually was, the guitar had no high frets , no string buzz ,the neck was straight and the finish was really nice. The guitar plays nicely and the action was really great. The guitar also came with a very nice padded soft case that is of good Quality ( the case alone was worth the price) . If you're looking for an inexpensive quality guitar, this is the one to get!

NIce guitar
Received this today and just set it up. Minimal setup required. Frets are a tad sharp at the edges, but not terrible. No blems on the finish. Bought it for my 9 year old son, as he's always stealing my Les Paul lol. This is my 3rd Indio and they're great bang for the buck.

great value
This is a beautiful guitar and astonishing value for the price. I plan to oil the frets file down the edges a bit and add new strings. But overall I'm thrilled with it.

Classic Style Humbucker Guitar
A nice intro guitar, but experienced musicians will jam on it too considering the great pricing. Named after a historic highway it fits the bill and provides that type of vibe. Good quality and tone. The padded gig bag was of excellent quality sweetens the deal. Action, neck, and frets were playable out of the box, but experienced players can tweak it to their liking.

Amazing value
Pretty incredible to get a beautiful instrument with a good setup, ready to play, for this price range. Also, the bag is much higher quality than I expected it to be. Thanks Monoprice!
