How wide is the Nut on the Monoprice 66 Classic V2 Electric Guitar?

BEST ANSWER: No more than a hair's difference from my Epi Les Paul. It certainly plays more like a Gibson fingerboard but the overall feel of the guitar is like a Tele. It's light and fast. The headstock style pulls the strings almost perfectly straight but you might want to upgrade the tuning pegs. I like these smaller LPs so much I bought two for myself and another as a gift. Excellent value and potential for upgrades and mods. I put a generic Bigsby on one and it plays great.

I recently purchase a 66 Classic V2 and I'm getting ready to replace the strings but I'm a beginner and I don't know what gauge strings I've been playing. What gauge strings ship standard on this guitar?

BEST ANSWER: 46 - 10 gauge is common for this type of scale. As this is close to the LP style 46 - 10 are what you see on Gibson's and Epiphones.

Is there wood between the neck and pickup cavity on the Indio 66 Classic V2? If there is not, it's a critical design flaw, will cause the neck to shift over time, sliding into the pickup cavity, and crush the neck pickup. If you bought one, find a way to modify that!

BEST ANSWER: It is common for set neck guitars to have the heel of the neck extend under the neck pickup. Do a search for set neck kit guitars to view some images of similar necks. Such a neck cannot shift into a pickup. But this guitar has a BOLT ON NECK, so none of that applies.

Good, Solid Guitar for Beginners
This is a basic Les Paul style guitar. It has the humbucker pickups. They are NOT micro-phonic which is a good thing. It came basically set up. I just needed a tiny tweak in lowering the strings just a centimeter. The neck was straight. I polished the frets (I always do when I buy a guitar). The strings are fine. It sounds nice through my Fender amp. Well done.

Solid instrument at budget price
Better than average instrument for the price. Came with a dead spot at second fret on first and second strings but I was able to adjust the action to solve the issue. It sounds and looks beautiful.

Awesome for the price!
I am 2/2 pn monoprice guitars. A tele type and a lp special type. Neither guitar needed significant fretwork or adjustment. Frets were near perfect. I bought the lp type for: 1. Price. 2. Gibson scale and maple neck. Imo mahogany necks on cheap guitars are too flexible and have tuning issues. This guitar is great for the price. Only adjustment is loosening the truss rod for f chords to ring clearly. I have no love for the ccp (gov), but to the people of China: I love you; and you are my brothers and sisters!

Just got guitar....
The guitar came pretty fast so that was good. The gig bag was decent so that was good. I had to reset the intonation at the bridge by adjusting the screw on the tunamatidc. That wasn't too difficult. But, the guitar itself is kind of rough around the edges and the tuners are not good at all. Honestly, I bought this to donate to the Middle school where I volunteer, and for that purpose it's okay. For myself, I rather spend $80 more and get the cheapest guitar from Sweetwater.

Monoprice 66 Classic V2
It was okay for the price. Mine had a big chip in the paint on one edge.
I guess it would make a good mod guitar.

Nice take on lp
Was not disappointed. I got the sunburst finish and was impressed by the trapezoidal inlays- a nice contrast to the dark fretboard.
It was intoned well and all specs were standard lp.
Pickups and electronics work well together. No need to file fret edges, already done nicely.
Only con is the fretboard material, otherwise a no brainer- get one

Decent for the money, nice starter guitar
I purchased this guitar for travel. I was also curious what you would get for just north of a Benjamin. The fit and finish are very good. Neck is somewhat wide which is good for playing first position cords.
The neck is a bit thick however larger hands would not find this a concern. The tuning pegs are not super accurate. The pickups saturate starting at about 2/3 volume control. Again, might not be a disadvantage for those playing with distortion pedals. Overall, a good knockabout instrument for the money. Great gift for someone starting out and uncertain of continuing interest in guitar.
