How are the polar patterns switched/selected?

BEST ANSWER: There is a small, three-way switch on the front of the mic, allowing you to switch between cardioid (left position), bi (center position) and omni (right position).

To "David P", who provided the previous "Best Answer": Do you know for a fact that a three-way polar pattern switch actually exists? It is very curious that the images that Monoprice uses to advertise this mic show ONLY a "-10dB Pad" switch, and a "High Pass / Bass Roll-off" switch, and no other switches. If a polar pattern switch actually exists, to for Monoprice to just accidentally NOT include a photo of it is simply unimaginable, which suggests that they left it out on purpose. So, if that's true, then the question would be "Why would they omit the most significant feature the mic has to offer? The consequence of this should be obvious: it presents a very dubious impression to the consumer.

Hi Greg! I own two LC200 mics and use them all the time. They have the polar pattern switch. I can't answer as to why Monoprice didn't include a photo of the switch as it's an important, great feature.

Between the LC200 and the LTM500 the biggest differences I spot are the price points. Could you enlighten as to some other major differences between them?

BEST ANSWER: Zthe LTM is a tube mic. The LCM is not. Tube mic use a vacuum tube as part of the circuit that "translates" the pressure variations detected by the capsule into an electronic signal Other types of condenser mics use a type of transistor to do the same job.

I should have also pointed out the difference in how power is supplied. The LTM also has it's own power supply in a seperate box that comes with the mic. The LCM requires "phantom" power to be supplied by your mixer or interface. The standard is 48v, which gets sent thru the xlr cable.

What mounting standard does the shock mount come with?
Ben M
on Jul 29, 2020
BEST ANSWER: If you go to this mic's page on Monoprice's site, then scroll down to the description (about a quarter of the way down the page), you'll see the mount that comes with the mic. It's a nice, well-built, suspension mount that the mic threads into, making for a very secure combination. I used this mic in a recording of a flute quartet. The mount is so secure, that I never worried about it, once we started the session. I hope this helps.

Great mic for the price
I didn't have much expectations for this because of the price I paid. But it sounds great. I used it as a versatile mic for everything from vocals to guitar.

Sounds good in recording.
I don't have a lot of experience but this mic sounds a LOT better than using my AKG dynamic mics that I use on stage for the studio. When I say the studio, I mean my living room and I'm recording my own music with Reaper (DAW). I'm completely satisfied with this mic.

Crystal Clear Recording
I've used these (I have two) in the field and on location. Solid build, very nice isolator included, although I purchased a couple of the smaller isolators for travel (1/2 the size). You will definitely want to isolate isolators with these.
I use one through an audio interface as my primary teleconferencing mic. While I never get asked to repeat myself, I would caution against muttering under your breath - it will pick that up.
These also mix well with other types of mic for various stereo configurations. Pairing with tube or ribbon mics (in mid-side) helps create unique stereo effects with broader dynamic fidelity.
Good dynamic response across the sound spectrum.
Are there better mics out there? Probably, but at four times the price - and they won't sound 4X better. I doubt many people would be able to tell you the difference in the end after all the production is done. I get really great recordings with these.

Puts away my SM58
This is a condenser microphone that requires a pre-amp but it puts to shame every other microphone I've ever had and I'm almost 70. Having good ears, I like clarity, and nothing is missing here...

On sale price made this a fantastic buy
I don't believe I would pay $99 for it just due to the fact that the competition at that price point is crazy good. But I grabbed this on sale for i believe $59.99 and was really REALLY impressed by how smooth it was. Did a video on it at Obscure Mics on YouTube
Smooth and full sound with a full size capsule. Would reccomend.

A wonderful year in review
I'll be honest, I tend to really love any and all of the monoprice products I've purchased. As someone who operates a home studio and is constantly using microphones, this thing works fantastic. "Audiophile" quality really doesn't mean much to me as most of the vocal recordings I'm using are heavily processed anyways, but this mic really delivers crisp and clean recordings. I haven't had any issues with this microphone whatsoever, and I've gone on to recommend this mic to many people. If you're using this mic for recording, streaming, or simple communication over discord, it's amazing and cannot be beaten for the price; even up against an AT2020, 2035, SM7 and MV7. So long as you have the space and setup to keep the mic relatively close to your mouth as you speak, you should have little to no issues with it.
