Does it include an ac adapter?
A shopper
on Oct 30, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, it does not include an AC adapter. A 9 volt adapter is required to operate.
A battery will not fit in the peddle and it needs a power supply to operate.
The correct type adapter is shown on the top face of the peddle next to the volume control.
Cheers

Is this similar to any common pedals?

BEST ANSWER: Probably the Donner Stylish Fuzz. In any case, it sounds great. Would probably consider it an upgrade of the Donner

BEST ANSWER: I haven't a clue.
Your question is better suited by asking the manufacturer. They're the only ones that know what material was used in the manufacturing process.

Bad Lot of Fuzz Pedals
Monoprice did the right thing by discontinuing these pedals. They were defective. Hopefully they will fix the problem and release the fuzz becuase all their other pedals are fantastic.

Discount Fuzz
I bought this for use on an American Nashville Fender Telecaster played through a Fender amp. After +/- twenty minutes, I was able to get a reasonable sound out of it. So far, I have not been able to get any range of sound from it, just the one. I will continue to fiddle with it and see where I get. I got this on sale $20ish. If I had paid full price + shipping, I would be sending it back. I don't think it is defective, just very limited in its capabilities.

3 strikes - major quality issues
I really wanted to hear what this pedal sounded like, but after receiving 3 of them, none worked. They all were defective and just made terrible noises (they only functioned in bypass mode). Monoprice has a major quality problem here. I own several hundred dollars? worth of Monoprice products (tube amplifiers, microphones, pedals) and have been very satisfied. I waited to write a review until I received my third pedal hoping I would eventually get a good one. Nope. Defective like the previous 2.

Purchased this pedal since it was a reasonable price, but it had an electrical short so it was returned. Still waiting for the replacement.

Meh
The first one was broken and the second one didn't fare much better. I think they had a bad line of them because this thing isn't even CLOSE to my blue Fuzz Face.

a TRUE and HONEST reason to tell your bride why you mus have your 500th pedal!
Combined with the behringer fuzz, it can get that 60's fuzz buzz. On its own, I'ts nothing special and neither is the behringer. I use these 2 simply to increase from light fuzz to a heavier fuzz. I also have the TC Electronics fuzz on order at sweetwater. If you're like me, you own a bunch of pedals and know that different combinations make different sounds, it's the colorful audio of mixing crayons. If you're looking for an out of the box 60's fuzz, start watching youtube for reviews. I gave it 5 stars cause there is nothing wrong with it! Also, it's a TRUE and HONEST reason to tell your bride why you mus have your 500th pedal!
