If I want two or more units to be synced in standalone mode, do I need to connect a DMX cable between them, or will they just magically sync like my color-changing light bulbs do?
Jim G
on May 20, 2019
A DMX cable will be necessary to sync the lights.

I think there might be, I don't remember, but I'm using a lighting board to control them and it does when attached to it.

Is it water resistant?
A shopper

I have used it outdoors and got some due on them with no issues but they are not rated for outside so rain would most likely kill it.

Definitely not. The instructions state, "Do not expose this device to water or moisture of any kind."

I am looking for a strobe to attach to a timer. It'll power on every day and flash and then turn off. Can this unit go auto-on, or does it need some kind of input or button pushing? The requirement is for a completely autonomous system after initial setup ("fire and forget"). Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: This light will power on to the last setting you left it on. So unless you have a DMX controller running autonomously and constant power to the device, it will not run on it's own. You can set a strobe with DMX control.

I think this should work fine. There are no power switches; just plugged in is on, unplugged is off. The lights "remember" previous settings, so once you have it set for the strobe you want, I think it would stay there.

Can this be used by itself, or do I need a controller of some sort? I want to use this to light up an antique tinsel Christmas tree.

BEST ANSWER: The manual will explain how to use this light as a stand alone fixture. You can set it for a single color with the brightness you choose. You can link multiple in a Master/Slave config with no controller, all slave units will follow settings you enter in the master.

Yes, all DMX controlled lighting will always come w an interface to select the lighting FX. All the features can be used w buttons on unit. It's a pretty powerful light so it will wash out the back wall if not close enough to tree.

I put the washers between the rotating nut and the two stand pieces. I think you can put them between the stands and the unit too- doesn't really matter.

There are no mounting bolts, nuts or washers included. Those can be obtained at any hardware store, but don't forget that the light bar itself needs to have holes drilled through if you're going to mount with bolts. Pros use clamps specifically made for mounting on truss or light stand bars, in which case, no holes are needed on the bars.

What is the amperage draw at full?
A shopper
on Feb 18, 2019
If it is true to it's 54 watt specs, then 54W/110V = about 1/2 Amp.
I don't have an ammeter right now to test it.

Can I operate this without any kind of DMX control or any device at all? Are there buttons on the physical device that I can press to get through modes? I have no lighting or DJ control equipment at all. I’m just somebody who bought this light with no background in anything. Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Page 5 of the manual shows you how to use the menu option for this light. push the MENU button repeatedly until the display shows A1-A6. Press ENTER and use the UP/DOWN buttons to selecte the speed, color, style, etc you want. Be sure to press ENTER again to lock your selection, this way you only have to do it once. It will remain in this mode even after you power it off.

Is there a way to set the colors in Gradual Color Change Mode? The default for this mode cycles through only about half of the available colors.

Nice and Light
Bright and entertaining patterns built in, the color change is great for background posters with bands etc. as the patterns drastically alter printed color patterns. The case is heavy duty plastic and that really helps with truss mounting.

Great light for a great price.
Fantastic light for the price....I'm using it by itself so just adjust menu on back to find a cool setting and let it go...it's quiet, doesn't get hot and lasts whole show (using it to light my band) so I love it. Will probably buy another one.

Powerful value with DMX
Really excellent value for a fixture with this much control through DMX programming. Without it, it's fine, but not amazing.

Nice looking beam.
Due to the quadrants it can be a little bit of a pain to program. Found that if I turned them to D4 and lit up all fixture buttons I could get all led's to respond.

Worth every penny, granted not a lot of pennies.
These lights are cheap and they work relatively ok. For the price if you need something that is bright they are great. I was a little disappointed in the noise from the fans and how some of them lag a second or two from receiving DMX signal to adjusting. Also, if you plan to take advantage of the pie control for animation, you will need diffusion as the lights need to be around 20% intensity before all of the colors mix properly, which is too bright to point directly into the audiences eyes.

Great value for the money. We use 2 of them for lighting a small duo/trio and they do the job quite well.

Versatile light
As others have posted, this is a versatile LED par can flood light. The separate "pie" sections add the capability for some nice effects. The only issue I would draw attention to is the fact that the red color of the RGB tri-color LEDs is not as bright as the other colors when set at the same level on a controller console. Yes, this can be overcome by giving the red more intensity, but it is a noticeable difference when compared with most other RGB lights. Still, a great light for the money.

Wash Light Works Right
The light has performed well and is easy to toggle through the different modes without the use of a DMX controller. Would recommend, especially at the sale pricing.
