is this unit flicker free for video use?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: We use 12 of these units for our church stage lighting. With a strong DMX signal, we have not noticed any flickering live or on our video playback. Just make sure your DMX signal is solid.

Does this fixture come with a C-clamp and power cable?
Andrew V
on Oct 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is no clamp included, but it is a very light weight fixture and even the most inexpensive clamps will hold it in place securely. As with any situation, make sure and use a safety cable for any fixture that is suspended overhead! Power cable is hard wired into the unit (standard Edison grounded plug).

Power cable is attached. No 'C' clamp. If attaching to a light bar, you can use the hole in the bracket to bolt it to the light bar. Works great. If you have several of these, have plenty of extension cords available as the power cord is not extremely long for long distances. Power strip works if close.

The description says "Each LED can be independently dimmed, faded, and mixed." Does that mean each of the 7 leds? As in could I have the top left LED on and switch to a bottom right one?
A shopper
on Aug 23, 2022
BEST ANSWER: No, they mean each "color together". Each of the 7 mini lenses has the same RGBW LEDS, and if you dim Red, all 7 Red emitters will dim together. You do have the 4 @8-bit controls (0-255) on the unit for each color intensity, or use DMX control or Presets.

Independent mixing seems to reference DMX control. You can have multiple of these PAR DMX lights and, using a DMX controller, each can operate independently.

The specs say a beam angle of 25 degrees, though that's probably a pretty diffuse beam.

Love these fixtures but the manual does not tell how to change the beam angle. Tech support wasn't aware of what beam angle means in terms of theatrical lighting. Anybody know how to do it?

on Mar 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You can not replace the lens housing on this fixture so changing the beam angle is not an option. For this you would need a zoom fixture which is well above the monoprice pricing.

Thanks for the answer, but I am curious as to why the specs list 25 and 45 degree beam angles options then.
That's what the individual lenses are covering the LEDs not for the fixture as a whole.

Is this fixture able to hold accessories such as a gel frame, top hat, or barn doors? It looks like it has a slot for accessories but it also looks like they can just fall out of the slot.
New User U
on Nov 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You are correct, it will not hold accessories.
It appears that the grooves on top and bottom were intended to hold something that would allow that but no such parts are included or listed here and I haven't been able to find anything that fits. Which is a pity because otherwise it's a great little light

I want to illuminate paintings for photographing. I have three questions:
1) at 10 or 20 feet is the lighting even - I need it to be very even - not dark spots, no light spots
2) is the color balance daylight?
3) can I use them stand alone or do I need a controller board?

The description says "Each LED can be independently dimmed, faded, and mixed." Is that referring to each of the 7 leds on the face or the internal RGBW leds. Could I control each of the 7 independently. Looking at the DMX channel descriptions I dont see a per led dimmer?

I've had 6 of these for about 7 years with no issues
Mine are not in constant use. They are used as Ambiance lighting in my living room. They don't get moved around. But they are well built and should be able to handle use in a small club rig with no problems. I control them with a small DMX controller and have had zero issues.

Great PAR
This unit is fantastic! Very nice light, wonderful performance -- cool and quiet operation. Especially appreciated are the different fade/dimming modes -- making this LED PAR a very versatile unit. Can be used for washes, spots... pretty much any application that a traditional PAR CAN is suited for! Also there are no "jagged edges" as can be the case with other LED PAR solutions. Great color mixing/temps, nice presets/macros -- overall a strong performer!

Great for small/medium church application!
These light have worked great for our church. Weve had some for almost 4 years now and they work great. The fan in some of them can get loud when you first turn them on but it doesnt last very long. Other than that, they are a great purchase!

Great Light! Great Price!
This small PAR style light delivers a major punch for it's size and price. Output color, mixing, and fades are quite nice... pricepoint considered. No reliability issues yet - but at this price I have a few reserve units. Monoprice, please KEEP MAKING THESE! 1 wish? - there was a clip in the bottom slot for gels - as with other manufacturers.

Nice, bright, sturdy, and affordable.
These mix most colors nicely, are well constructed, and deliver a nice wash of light. They struggle with yellows/oranges since there is no Amber led, but overall they work well. I'm using them to light a stage from overhead and I was able to achieve relatively even lighting, but the light does spill all over the stage and there are still noticable hot spots. My biggest complaint would be that the brackets included are not long enough for a standard dmx plug to clear. Meaning that there will be spots I can't precisely aim these lights at because the bracket will get in the way.

Great...Until They Break
We bought tons of these and around a year after purchase we've had a slew of them go bad. The red LEDs just stop working. We returned a few until they went out of warranty. So far out of close to 40 of these we have replaced 7.
Besides that they are great! The capability is well worth the low price.

Great Powerful Light
These lights are impressive to say the least. For their size they are amazingly bright, and they appear to be pretty well built. I have so far used them in two theaters as basic wash and they have done great. Only downside so far is that one of the fixtures keeps changing the number of dmx channels even after i set it and hit enter. I will update this review after i have used them a bit longer.
