Rechargeable Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar - Acoustic
As a musician you know you need to practice regularly to hone your skills and learn new songs. However, you can't always break out the amps and crank up the volume. For those times when quiet is required, you can both practice and hear the amplified output from your instrument using this Rechargeable Mini Headphone Amplifier for Guitar from Monoprice!
This amplifier is designed to provide amplification to the output of instrument level devices, such as electric guitars and bass guitars. It features a 1/4" TS plug, which plugs directly into your instrument's output. It is powered by an internal, rechargeable battery and has a 3.5mm TRS output for listening with headphones.
An additional 3.5mm TRS auxiliary input is provided for connecting another audio source, such as an mp3 player. The audio from the Aux jack is mixed with the audio from the guitar so you can play along to an existing recording.
This amplifier produces a clean "Acoustic" sound reminiscent of an acoustic guitar performance. The amplifier includes analog Blend, Tone, and Volume controls.
PROS: Sound - Good volume, clean tone. Aux signal volume is not adjustable but you adjust that at the source.
Features - Mixes your instrument signal with an external music source, a must-have for me.
Build Quality - Solid build, all controls work and has been reliable for the four or five months I've used it.
Compact - Lightweight, thin and doesn't look like the cheaper units out there.
Rechargeable - I don't go through AA's anymore. Yes!
Price - Can't beat it. For around $10, just buy it!
CONS: Few issues here except for the too short 1/4 inch plug being the major drawback. Seems like this is a design issue which hopefully someone will address in future versions. Otherwise an excellent solution to practicing silently to an external source.
USB connection is a mini USB, not micro which is more popular today, but that's not really an issue.
Acoustic effect makes almost no difference. I honestly can't tell whether it's on or off. No matter to me anyway.
Excessive hiss when turned up near max volume, but is very clean at usable volume levels. This is to be expected with a unit at this price and hasn't impacted my use of this item at all.
Charge could last a little longer, but I don't practice all day anyway. If that turns into a real problem, I'll just buy another one and trade off.
PROS: Rechargeable. Inexpensive. Has more than enough volume (for me anyway). Sounds good.
CONS: 1/4 jack is about .1" short, so it may not stay in. It stays in my uke, but not an extension cable.
Headphone jack can be a bit fussy: It worked fine with two headsets, but the other one didn't stay in contact.
Absolutely no documentation.
Thank you for your review. Regarding your FX inquiry, you can use the FX switch to add an acoustic effect to the sound of your guitar. Should you have any further questions, feel free to contact us! Hope this helps!
PROS: Ample volume, battery holds a charge well, aux input
CONS: 1/4" plug too loose
PROS: Sounds great for acoustic guitar and bass. Rechargeable with a standard usb cable. Haven't had any issues as of yet. Works great!
CONS: Construction is fairly cheap feeling but what would you expect for the price.

Also, while recently shopping for a new A-E guitar, it was perfect when auditioning the pickup systems. By using this headphone amp and a nice set of over-ear studio headphones, I was able to filter out the guitar sound in the room and concentrate on the sound of the electronics.
The sound quality is excellent - crystal clear and full bodied without noticeable coloration in any particular frequency. Build quality seems good and so far it has been very reliable. How could anyone beat the price?
