Does this model have push/pull knobs to switch between single/humbucker?

BEST ANSWER: No. Neck pup is warm and good. Bridge pup a little lacking, but good enough. No need for me to change anything, and I'm a Seymour Duncan guy. Overall good quality, not as good as Epi but good enough.

No, it does not. But it plays pretty well for what it is. It's a keeper for me after a few small tweeks of the truss rod.

BEST ANSWER: This is a semi hollow body guitar. It arrived several weeks ago. I own over 20 guitars all of which are American Fenders, Gibsons Gretch and PRS. It is a very good value with good action and intonation. The frets needed to be polished and the tuning pegs needed tightening , the posts that hold the bridge in place needed some glue as they were loose. Once I made all the adjustments it became a fairly decent playable guitar probably worth twice the price. Don't expect this to be as good as a Gibson ES 335 which would cost 10 times as much.

I recently bought one. They would be considered Semi-Hollow since there is support for the neck running through the body of the guitar. I have several guitars and this guitar is really a great value.

Because it feels heavier in the rear than I anticipated I expect it is NOT fully hollow. I think there is a solid beam going right down the middle inside. It might be the hardware however but I don't remember my Gibson ES330 being that rear heavy but that was many years ago.

If you read the Monoprice description of this guitar, you'll see that it is a real "hollowbody guitar. Of course, it needs to have some internal blocking and bracing to make it sturdy, and this guitar has that.

I bought the Tele style guitar, and I replaced the pickups without playing them. You may think this invalidates my opinion, but no; everything that matters on these guitars rocks! The frets are nice (sand the edges of need be) the neck is the fastest and smoothest I’ve encountered, and the body is heavy and high quality. I replaced tuners and pickups, but I have $200 into this guitar, and it outplays anything less than a g&l. Squier and other knockoffs don’t stand a chance. I do plan to buy many many more guitars from monoprice!

I understand your frustration, but these guitars are very popular and they only make limited amounts in each run - doesn’t mean that they sell out b/c people are buying large amounts to re-sell. Get on the email waiting list like everyone else, you’ll get notified as soon as they’re available again, and you can get your own.

The guitars are made in china however there not like the chinese double neck I bought from china direct last year. The flamed boardwalk I can't speak to. I bought the Black boardwalk I replaced the bridge otherwise I love it; I've played lead since 1974. Own a 58 Les Paul 2014 hist I tweaked it to match that without any trouble it came setup very well, tuners and pickups are very good. Light weight a GOOD PRICE. Even the gig bag which I've never used gig bags is Impressive. If you're looking for a guitar of this style you won't do better at Monoprice. Good Luck to you !!

Not sure what is coming loose, but usually what has come loose is the nut around the jack. To tighten this, you will have to take the jack plate off, and hold onto the inside of the jack with a plyers or wrench to prevent the jack from spinning as you tighten the nut. It should take a 12mm socket to tighten. BTW, for the cost of these guitars, this should be expected; although it has not happened to mine. BTW, one of the reasons I bought this particular guitar is because of the jackplate. Tightening that nut with the jack on the top, with no access except through the f hole would be a nightmare.

It's an issue of tightening the nut on the outside of the body and not a soldering issue at all. Check to make sure the hex nut is still on the outside and hasn't loosened enough to have been lost. If that nut is lost, contact the company for another one. They are pretty much universal in size.

You can pull the old jack out and check for a loose connection. Be prepared to solder if necessary. If that doesn't work, check all the wiring and make sure everything is grounded properly. Still doesn't work? Get a new jack and heat up your soldering iron.

I'm confused by the control knobs on the 335 style boadwalk. There are 4 and a 3 way pickup switch. However when I am in the middle position, with both pickups on, the bridge pickup volume does nothing. If the neck pickup is at 0, then I get no volume when using what I think is the bridge volume. If I select the bridge pickup then I get volume changes from that knob. Can anyone advise?

BEST ANSWER: Whatever volume knob you turn on the other knob becomes like the master volume and you can't have one pickup louder then the other they both have same amount of output when in the middle position on select switch. You can get a decent cheap set on ebay for 30 bucks and that will fix it like it's supposed to be and then this guitar will play really nice for the price I paid for it

Try to lower main volume then slowly shift the pickup lever on what you desire to use. Rapid shift results delayed reaction or sometimes no sound at all. Adjust all knobs on medium range while shifting the pickup lever until all gets into place depending on your timing as well.

It is wired like a Gibson. If the selector is in the middle, the volume must be up for each pickup in order for it to work. The pots are wired in series as far as I know.

It will sound like any unamplified electric guitar: horrible.
I can only guess that you're confusing a hollow body guitar with the latest acoustic-electric guitars(Yamaha makes some models I believe) that can be played both acoustically and then as an electric guitar?.

It's a solid core for sure but I am presuming laminated mat's for back and sides given the price. I will tell you this guitar plays wonderfully, action, feel and tone - so for the price I don't think you can go wrong if they are set up this way.

Monoprice would have one listed separately if they had it.
They do, or did, have a couple of other lefty guitars, the Strat copy and maybe the Tele copy as well. Check them out.

Would a pickguard design for the Gibson ES-335 fit this guitar?
A shopper
on Sep 3, 2019
The distance between the plastic pickup surrounds is 2 3/8 inch. That is the same as the distance for the Les Paul and the ES I think. Pick guards are cheep and so is this guitar so try it. The mounting bracket is adjustable. You can always cut a custom guard yourself if you have to.

Pleasantly surprised
For the money I can not complain. A few rough frets a few small blemishes. F holes are frayed on the underside. Knobs and switches quality is suspect. The sound is actually not bad from the pickups. Like I said: for the money it is well worth it and with a few adjustments it could become a very nice little guitar. Would definitely recommend it to a friend or any one looking for a beginner or secondary guitar. ????

Better luck next time
The box and it's contents came soaking wet, torn to pieces and retaped with gobs of tape. FedEx did not do a good job and the packaging was inadequate for the way it was treated. The guitar itself was not as pretty as those I was seeing online. That being said the worst thing was that every string had fret buzz and it would have taken a professional to make it right again. It was just too much for me to handle so I returned it.

Any chance for a 12 string version?
I've had my boardwalk about a year and absolutely love it. When I was a gigging guitarist, I used Gibsons, Vox and Fender. I would have no problem using this as my stage guitar, even though I'm a home player now.
Like others, I had a few sharp frets to fix and some intonation to touch up, but once adjusted to my preference, this is an amazing guitar. After the setup, it holds tune extremely well. It sounds so good, I seldom use an amp at home.
As the title says, I wish you had a 12 string.

Not perfect, but worth the money.
Finish is beautiful. Several fret edges had to be filed down prior to playing, and I had to shake left over wood shavings out of the front holes; however, I feel the guitar is a still quite a bargain for the prices.

awesome for the money
who could want more for the price? Even tho' the pickups are pretty bright, I love them. The quality of this thing is way above it's price class - it's not perfect, but only those with unrealistic expectations would be disappointed. The finish is slick, the intonation is right on, and like I said, the sound is really good. I've got 2 custom shop Gibsons & of course, anybody could tell the difference -but you get almost 90% for what most of us do for less than 10% of the price? Sign me up every time.

Nice guitar, GREAT price
This is a nice guitar. It?s well made, has a beautiful charcoal burst gloss finish, and has the wonderful mellow sound of a semi-hollowbody guitar. The blacked out hardware is a nice touch. I learned about this guitar from the guitar gear bloggers on YouTube. They ALL gave it great reviews. Some of the older reviews mentioned that the fret ends needed more polishing, and there was some nitpicking about the size and font of the Indio logo. More recent reviews indicate that these issues have been addressed. MY Indio guitar has polished fret ends and it APPEARS to me that the logo is a bit smaller. The fit and finish are EXCELLENT, so perhaps Monoprice has listened to customer complaints and has tightened up their QC. The BIG news here is the PRICE. EVERYONE, myself included, is STUNNED by how INEXPENSIVE this guitar is. The $250 list price is a STEAL! The YouTube bloggers claim that this guitar will go
head-to-head with other 335 style guitars costing 3 times as much! I agree.

Great guitar. Poor setup.
I went with the higher model that supposedly included setup by someone here in the US. The setup wasn?t done well at all. I?m dealing with some issues of fret buzz and a few other adjustments needed. I can?t imagine how it left the hands of the technician in that state.
Otherwise the guitar is beautiful, and will sound great soon.

NOT Flamed Maple
I just received this guitar November 20, 2022 and it was obviously a return. The guitar was tuned and there was no paper on the strings. I suspect the previous buyer also realized the top is not flamed maple. It may be maple but it is certainly not flamed. There is a very faint spray paint striping designed to look like flame but definitely NOT flamed wood. This is very disappointing. I've attached a photo from the description (Amazon) and the actual guitar I received. The horns are completely black, not burst like the description photo. There are several minor finish flaws. The medium jumbo frets are sprouted and sharp and will require filing. This caused the binding to crack in several places. Fret crowns are very rough and will require polishing. On the bright side, the tuners are very good quality and the hardware appears to be decent. Unplugged, the guitar has a pleasant, resonant tone.
