Would a strat neck fit this pocket (55.5 mm) ?
New User U
on Sep 2, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I tried a couple of squier and Fender necks and they require a bit of shimming to get them tight in the pocket. The Indio neck can be pretty good with some work. I had a SSS and swapped the maple neck for the rosewood to make them both somewhat unique

What are the differences with this and the $99 version?

It depends on what kind of music you were into. If you’re more into blues or country,, I I would get the $99 one. But if you’re more into modern rock, I would get this one.

Is this HSS GUITAR resemble the strat or a Telecaster???

BEST ANSWER: This one resembles a Stratocaster
Having that Wawa bar on it complicates things a bit. You may be happier with the Indio classic that resembles a telecaster. I’m very happy with mine.

Are there any plans to make this model all black like the regular SSS model?
Also, is the neck rosewood on this model? I believe the SSS model in black is rosewood, which I think is a good thing.

What does fret size of 2.3mm translate to, medium, medium jumbo, narrow tall etc? Also can we get an official radius on this guitar from someone on the monoprice staff? Might save people an awful lot of time having that published on the website.
New User U

BEST ANSWER: Frets are more on the medium/narrow side. Radius looks like a 14”. I have cheap radius gauges, so could be a 12”, but 14” ever so slightly better fit.

It’s wood screws like you’ll see on anything similar. The pocket fit was fine although the angle needed shimming to be flat with the body.

Does anybody know what type or size for the bridge/saddle screws? I'll like to get some replacements as I lowered the action, but need to know the diameter/type.
I suspect they might equivalent to saddle/bridge height screws available elsewhere that are M3 threaded size and 10mm high/tall, so I am thinking of getting M3's that are 8mm. If possible, let me know what size and type they are. Thanks.

Can the black guitar be fitted at the factory with black pickups and knobs instead of white? It would be more visually appealing in my estimation; yet the blue model has black. Go figure . . .

Is your Indio Cali Classic HHS guitar light weight?
A shopper
on Sep 16, 2022
Fret size is listed on the Cali Classic HSS as "2.3mm", what does this translate to - medium, medium jumbo, narrow tall, etc.?
Indio needs to be more thorough with publishing their full specs, radius, body thickness, nut widths, body thickness, everything. Info From one model to another are maddingly inconsistent, it's almost impossible to get all the info when not even the manufacturer lists them. Please publish all specs for every model.

Sounds great, especially for the price. Gig bag is an obvious bonus. Look forward to upgrading the pickups but the stock sound is pretty good as is. Plays easy and smooth, like a much more expensive Strat. One of the best beginner guitars you can buy and a fun one to mod.

Great guitar for the money
Got this HSS strat style guitar on sale. The guitar was very nice but had either a switch or pickup problem. Because the rest of the guitar was so nice I almost kept it anyway but since they had a good return policy I sent it back for an exchange all I can say is WOW. The replacement was awesome everything works the neck is straight intonation is on and action is great and sounds pretty damn good. For the price even at regular price it's a fantastic guitar. I highly recomend it.

Was a surprise for sure!
I'm a old 70 yr old musician who's played from 14 yrs old and when I
seen the reviews on you tube I didn't believe it but I thought well if I don't like it one of the grandkids will get it for Christmas! I'm keeping it! And for under 100 it's not a bad guitar!

Neck just not right
The overall quality of this guitar seems to be ok, but as you can see from the photo, the neck just doesn't fit right. I have this guitar and the Cali classis sss and they have the same issue. I know this is an inexpensive guitar, but the neck on my son's toy guitar fits better. I hope monoprice is listening to this review.
Space between the neck and guitar body.

Another Awesome Guitar From Indio...
I love my 'Blue Fade' Cali Classic so much, I decided I wanted a black one to match my Indio J Bass. When I saw that there was a HSS one, I was all over it. Great guitar! Lowered the action a bit, checked intonation, which is good, tuned and played. Awesome guitar, and beautiful. Such a bargain with the VERY nice included gig bag. Just can't beat it! Very happy camper! Monoprice has become 'my brand'. I own two of the Strats, two of the Paul's, the Tele, and the J Bass. love 'em all!

excellent for price cant beat it
Write your regreat guitar for price plays good and does have a beefy tone to the pickups just like it reads on the listings switched out the tuners though everything else was fantastic on this guitar it came pretty well setup the high e string was kind of high on the setup but i think it has to be that way for this kind of guitar to play and sound great still excellent for price cant beat it in my opinion view here. It must be at least 10 characters long. Consider whether you would recommend this product and what you like or dislike about it.
