This is my 3rd or fourth Monoprice guitar. This one came setup better than the Cali deluxe. Frets are very nice and smooth, good action, no buzz and straight neck., the tuners have a little play but not too bad. I haven't plugged it in yet. I have a couple of sets of Fender Vintera PUPs, I may drop those in.
got with discount for under $100 fret ends where perfect , intonation was spot on ,string height was good . Adjusted p.u. height and played a four hour gig with no problems.
Best little guitar for the price. The feel of a fender without shelling out a ton of money. After a brief setup, this guitar punches above it's weight class.
Got this guitar for my son for Christmas I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived so quickly I live in Owen Sound Ontario Canada and it came all the way from California and it here in less than a week and was packed very well and the guitar was in great shape no scratches or was not damaged in any way and it was ready to play had to tune it up the intonation was spot on strings were set at a great height so plugged it in to check the electronics and it was all good sounds great and plays great for the price of this guitar very happy with it I think my son will in joy playing it thank you Monoprice. I will be ordering more from you in the future
Thought I have done better for the price. It looks like the guitar I ordered but the neck was unplayable because of the workmanship and lack of a minimal set up. Cut up my fingers. And I am a pro.
Quality can vary, but eventually you should get a winner
I've bought two other instruments from MP (a Retro Classic guitar and a Jamm bass) and have been super happy with their quality ? especially because I got both on sale from the already reasonable retail prices. The first Cali Classic that got shipped to me was, unfortunately, a mess: pickups all set at shocking angles, the nut was totally misaligned and looked like someone cut it by hand with a dull knife, the high E string snapped the moment I tried to tune it, because the bridge saddle was rough, there were checks and scratches in the finish and metal parts... you get the picture. BUT of course Monoprice has a totally reasonable return policy and process, so I shipped that one back with the list of issues, and a little over a week later I got another totally fine instrument. No major construction issues, probably even better fret finishing that the other guitars I bought from them. Just a quick tune-up, and the thing sounds great. Another solid instrument for a super-bargain price.
