Good snake. I was worried: this snake is considerably cheaper than comparable models. When i ordered it, I wondered what I was sacrificing. At least so far, it turns out I sacrificed nothing. I use this for mobile PA use and many events get rowdy. I see no reason why this snake won't last as long as the brand name snake it just replaced.
PROS: All connections tested perfectly funtional on arrival. Sleek look. Best deal for an all XLR 16 channel snake of it's length.
CONS: Haven't found any yet. Maybe it'd be nice if monoprice offered a 20 channel snake for a similar value.
Good Product, Good Price! Like the fact that it has four return lines as well.
PROS: Things either work or don't, and this is one of the things that work! We did an install of sound equiptment into a gym and this was perfect for what we needed. Something that works with a decent price!
CONS: It comes from monoprice and not all monprice items always work.
Great Snake for the price. Some volunteers who are helping forget to press the release button on the box when removing cable. This is a good feature but just remind those helping you not to do that. Cables can get jammed if they pull too hard. Good audio on all channels. Connections are well marked. Unit is all XLR including the returns so make sure you have XLR to 1/4in adapters if you have monitors that will not take xlr. Very happy with the purchase, I have had other snakes costing twice as much and this one is just as good. We got a big duffel bag with padding to store it in and love to watch the faces of the guys picking it up when they realize how heavy it is!
PROS: Sturdy enough and well built. Looks impressive and industrial. Much better than running individual cables!
CONS: None really I guess the connections need to be "broken in". A little stiff at first but they loosened up with use. Again not really a con just worried me at first, they work just fine now.
This was a semi-permanent install solution for our church. Given that it would be stretched and anchored only once, I felt pretty confident that the hardware would be up to the task. After reading other comments, I checked every channel before starting the install. I got a clean signal from every channel, release clips worked consistently. There are better constructed, more heavily reinforced snakes on the market, but you will pay 1.5 - 2x more. For our needs this was an ideal solution. In a harsh environment, I wouldn't feel comfortable trusting this as a primary, but it would make for a great spare.
PROS: Lightweight Delivers as promised.
CONS: Lightweight aluminum enclosure. Not heavily reinforced - insulation is a little thin on the individual channels, strain relief is minimal. XLR Connections feel a little loose at the board.
I bought this item back in the summer of 2013. I used it in small venues and at an outside venue where we ran the snake out to full length to the mixer. The cable is thick, heavy, and a little clumsy so you will need some sort of spool to wind it up (like a garden hose type of reel).
It is a 12 send and 4 return snake, with XLR ONLY.
If you have monitors and mains on the stage, you will use up the returns pretty quick, and will likely need adapters unless your mixer has a lot of XLR outputs for Aux, etc.
(The return lines are all XLR, so 1/4" to XLR adpaters are required for our setup)
So for 2 electric guitars, 1 acoustic, 1 bass, 3 microphones, 4 drum mics, all the channels get used up quick. make sure you plan your setup for instruments, mics, and type of connectors.
Once you get everyone on their respective channels, and lable the mixer, this Stage Snake makes setup REALLY QUICK if you know what channel you are on !!
No issues like previous review. All connections work great. Only downfall is shipping was almost $100, but STILL a lot cheaper than any other option.
PROS: Heavy Duty!
Well Built
