They did not sent me egg crate found proofing. I hit solid packing foam. I kept it because I had a need. I would probably re on end a double sided tape. Look for one that says it can be removed (might not be any). Either way once you pull them

You can pin them or staple to drywall
I take a sheet of that 1/4 inch foam insulate board with the tinfoil on one side. Use spray contact cement to make sound panel

Can these panels be painted? If yes, what kind of paint can be used?
A shopper
on Mar 19, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I would not paint them. No matter what paint you use, it will fill in some of the pores that help absorb the sound and help prevent echo.

They're open cell foam, painting them will probably reduce their ability to absorb sounds waves. So I would say no.

Can these panels be painted and what paint would you recommend?
New User U
on Mar 19, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I would not recommend painting them, as that would change their acoustic properties. However, they could be dyed, depending on how you perform that dying. If you were to try dying them, I would recommend trying to find some that are white before attempting it. As it stands, just painting them would create a layer of "hard surface" that would change its ability to absorb and reflect sound.

Being how they're foam, I can't imagine how you'd paint them...

will this product work in a drop in ceiling system?
A shopper
on Nov 16, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Only if these are installed on the room-facing side of the ceiling so the sound hits them directly. Putting them above the ceiling will have no effect.

could this product be used outdoors?
A shopper
on May 28, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Not recommended. Maybe in a covered rain free location. But I don’t see a reason to do so. Outdoors, sound goes out and up. There is much less reverberation, even in between buildings or an outdoor pavilion.

I don’t think so. If it gets wet it will just retain water.

Are these panels effective at reducing the amount of sound that travels through a wall? I'm building a shed to house a really loud generator.
A shopper
on Mar 17, 2024
BEST ANSWER: In general these type of panels don't do much to block sound. They are really designed to absorb sound from bouncing around in the room. They may block some sound but the real way to do it, albeit much more expensive is, to build a room inside a room. Look around online to see how to do this.

I have plans to make an enclosure around a noisy generator and to make a labyrinth for air to flow in and out that will be lined with these. Much of the noise from your generator is coming from the exhaust. How to you plan to deal with that inside a shed? The purpose of these is to stop reflected sound. To keep walls from leaking sound, they must be rigid and stuffed in the gaps with foam or fiberglass.

Can I get the MSDS sheet for this product? My son is working on his Eagle Scout project and needs asap due to almost being 18. He is turning a small room in his high school band room into a "recording studio" and is looking at the acoustic panels to put in. He has to have the MSDS sheet to get approved through the administration of his school to cover for fire retardency.

Saved my life
I was interrupted by the fire dept for a random inspection. I had just put up acoustic foam all over my mic booth and they determined we'd all die in a blazing fire as a result lol. So I went online to find a manufacturer who wanted me to live! Monoprice not only provided me with fantastic sound foam but also it's fire retardant. As they say we get to live another day!
