Can I use this with monoprice bulk ethernet cable?

BEST ANSWER: Technically, no. The impedance is different than the DMX standard. We used these with DMX cable and they worked flawlessly with 1000 ft of cable. In most cases, however, the impedance is close enough that it will work with ethernet cable. For shorter runs, we have used CAT7 and CAT6 ethernet cable and it worked well.

This will make the connection to DMX fixtures, but the
cable needs to have a 120ohm characteristic impedance to operate DMX signals properly. I don't know which cable you are specifically referring to and what it's impedance is.

If you are using this for DMX you are best to go with a spec stranded cable. DMX spec states:
2 pair, 24 AWG, 7x32 stranded, tinned copper, 6.9 left hand twist/ft

Yes. Catx actually makes great dmx cable. It's cheap, but it is also not as hard wearing as usual dmx cable.

Best DMX connecter.
Great connector!
The pins are nice and thick, making for a sturdy connection that wont bend.
Id prefer this 5 pin connector over Neutriks.

Well made plugs
I used these to make my own 5 pin dmx cables. I found the plugs to be well made, and they hold together well. This is the best price on these plugs I've found. I compared them to some more expensive plugs and found them to be exactly identical.
PROS: Best price I've found on these plugs.
CONS: These Male 5 pin XLR cables long for a female to plug into.

This was a good solution to build a 3-pin to 5-pin adapter to fit my ENTTEC OpenDMX USB-DMX controller. Given Monoprice's excellent cable prices, I'd rather let them do the soldering!
PROS: Easy to solder and assemble
CONS: No screw lock for pin assembly
