Can this go from 1/4 output to 3.5 mm input? Or does it only work one way?

BEST ANSWER: Sure, this would go 1/4 to the 3.5...but it would only feed one half of the 3.5. If you are running mono, that would be fine, but if you are hoping that it would split the mono 1/4 cable into stereo, it will not. For example, if you plug a mono sound source--let's say a guitar--into the red 1/4 jack and then plugged the 3.5 into a stereo (Left/Right) speaker setup, the guitar would only come out of the Right channel.

It works both ways. But it is a stereo signal. So if you use only one 1/4 cable, then sound will only appear on the left or right ear.

Yes it can do that. It is just a cable so it doesn't care if it used as and input or output cable.

Is there any way to get a 10 or 15 foot version of this? 5 feet isn't enough.

BEST ANSWER: I use the "Monoprice Designed for Mobile 6ft 3.5mm Extension Cable", which makes it longer and lets it plug into my phone without having to take off the case. A little hokey, but it kills two birds with one stone. I've used the 25' extension cable with it too, for running long distances.

Somewhat working, but working
Usable, but this is the first cable I've gotten that has had a problem from the get-go. I use it on a laptop, and quickly noticed that I need to have it situated in a certain position while plugged in to get both channels working. All the other cables I've purchased so far have been great. I hope this last one was just an odd-ball.

Great cable to get audio from a headphone out jack to another device!
This cable is ideal to get the output from a 1/8" stereo headphone jack into another device such as an audio interface for recording on the computer or into a mixing board/PA system. It's well built and works very nicely.
