What do the positions of the power switch represent since it's a three-way switch? Is one position for charging only that leaves lights on while the rest off)?

BEST ANSWER: The center position is all power off. The down position is the plugged into 110Volts AC and charging. In this position, the LCD Bluetooth and SD Card display is off, but the battery status row of LEDs will be illuminated. There are 5 LEDs from left to right the progression of charge will be normal when the 2 green LEDs are illuminated. Once it reaches the right RED LED, unplug the 110 Volt supply. It will be fully charged at this time. The up position is the normal PA output position where the LCD display will be on and the battery status row of LEDs will be illuminated. I found out by using, once the Amber LED is illuminated there is a short period of time when the the unit will cease total output and the unit will shut down.

There are two “on” positions and the center position is “off”. One “on” positron allows “plug-in” operation and charges the battery. The other “on” position allows “battery” operation. I hope this helps…

A review suggests that Bluetooth doesn't work unless the speakers are plugged in to power -- is that true? Can you only use Bluetooth if plugged into power?

BEST ANSWER: That is not true. I just used the Mono Price Stage Right D1 Speaker with Blue Tooth. As a matter of fact, I have only used Bluetooth while the speaker was operating off of the battery.

Nah, you can absolutely use Bluetooth on battery... In fact, it's the most efficient from a power consumption perspective.

Haven’t figured out how to pair 2 D1 units ( for bluetooth, or guitar). Suggestions?

BEST ANSWER: I haven't done it myself, but I think you use a standard mic cable, and connect the Line Out on one speaker to one of the inputs on the other, select the "Line" option on the mic/line button on that second speaker, and it's more like a passthrough (not stereo) setup.

If two of these units are paired via Bluetooth do the XLR inputs on each one work? In other words, when paired in stereo, are there four XLR inputs that work in stereo?

BEST ANSWER: dont believe so. Bluetooth is a part of the bluetooth signal from the source. It doesn't link the unit's output - it links the bluetooth signal. I believe what you're asking is - will the first unit mixer channels be transmitted via bluetooth. I do not believe it does. Units must be linked via XLR for mixer functions to work.

If 2 D1's are connected via xlr cable, do all inputs function or just the unit that is sending the line out?
A shopper
on Jan 23, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Yes, even after connecting two of the D1 speakers via XLR, the inputs should function just fine since the mixers on the back of the speakers function as individual units. The XLR is just to share the audio signal.

Someone has mentioned that Bluetooth and USB only work when unit is plugged in (which doesn't make any sense to me). Someone has already said Bluetooth does work when on battery power. What about playing music from a USB stick while on battery power? Thanks.

Liked it so much, I bought a second one!
Very impressed with this little speaker. For a smaller speaker, it puts out decent bass, and the battery lasts for a long time. So easy to connect your bluetooth and enjoy. I liked it so much, I bought a second one. I use for outdoor events, and I carry it to many of my networking events, when a microphone/speaker are needed!

Good value for money ... with caveats.
Sounds good! Reasonably loud, very good frequency response.
Three issues with the design, which may be deal-breakers in some use cases:
1.) the input jacks are strictly XLR (vs. XLR/1/4" combo, which is common nowadays),
2.) no reverb (if you're adding a separate circuit board for Bluetooth and USB, why not reverb?), and
3.) the power switch has a special position for charging (why?)
For the next edition, I hope Monoprice/Stage Right will consider addressing these shortcomings, as they'd cost next to nothing to implement/resolve, and would make an already quite good powered speaker great.
That said, if all you need is a loud & clear rechargeable powered PA speaker with XLR, Bluetooth and USB inputs, the D1 gets it done, at a good price.

Great deal for a great product
Great, portable product with excellent sound for small settings. I wish I had bought two though. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that it had its own internal rechargeable battery. When I purchased it, I was under the impression that it required external ones.

Seems to be a very good PA for battery operation.
I have tried all functions other than using a XLR cable to tie to another PA for stereo. The unit has very good reproduction in both treble and bass. The battery seems to last a long time between charges. Once the power level LED's reach down to the yellow, it will be a short time before the unit will completely shut down. I am glad I purchased this PA system. No complaints.

Exceeds expectations
These little speakers are great for several applications. The true stereo pairing for bluetooth input, multiple mic or line inputs, plenty of level for what it is, sounds great for its size, versatile and good value.

A good ides but not complete..
The first one I purchsed the battery was bad and wouldnt charge....Monoprice replaced the second one that needed charging and seems to be ok...which is why I bought it to use where there is no 110 volt outlet...To make this a more versatile unit,I would have had guitar jacks installed as alternates with the XLR inputs so my acoustic guitar wouldnt have to use an adapter to go from 1l4"' to an XLR input. Also a reverb or chorus would complete the deal to make it more usable. The sound itself is wonderful and would recommend this as its portable and has a good output wattage.....Monoprice always has good products and I hope they do improve on this as it would probably.sell more....

Not great but adequate.
These are decent speakers, as long as you are not expecting great fidelity. I was expecting separate drivers, one for the bass and the other for mids and highs. This speaker is nothing more than a coaxial car speaker. Everyone knows that car speakers are not hi fidelity. I'm thinking about replacing the speaker with two separate drivers with better frequency response. The amp is adequate for a battery powered unit. Bluetooth works well and the connections for in and out are quality.
