What size are the keys? Like a traditional piano? The description says, "uses 140mm standard keys (7/8ths of traditional keys) " which doesn't make any sense. 140mm is 5.5 inches. The text says the keys are standard then that they're 7/8 traditional which again makes no sense. Could someone please take a ruler to their keyboard and tell me how wide theirs are? Thanks a lot.

Monoprice 88-key Digital Piano with Semi-weighted Keys, Built-in Speakers, and Wooden Stand

Monoprice 88-key Digital Piano with Semi-weighted Keys and Built-in Speakers
BEST ANSWER: the 140mm stands for the width of an octave or 12 keys. The 12 keys includes 8 white keys and 4 black keys. Standard width of an octave on a full size 88 key piano is 164mm. Therefore the 140mm octave width of the mono-price keyboard is about 7/8 of a full size piano. the actual width of the white keys is .76 inches on monoprice keyboard and a standard keyboard is .875 inches

the total keyboard width from outside to outside keys is 47 1/8" - that's only 7/8 shorter than on my Grinell Bros. upright grand acoustic piano. The whole unit is 50 3/4" at the back, it's widest point.

I’m not anywhere near mine to measure, but the keys are not as wide as a piano. There is also no semblance of hammer action whatsoever.

What is the polyphony count? That should be clearly listed in the description as most musicians will want to know before purchase.
Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Do not have an answer but do have a comment. Looked in the User's Manual on the Description tab. The specs do not answer this question. I cannot imagine that this is a Monoprice design. Can Monoprice tell us whose make/model number is under the hood and maybe we can answer the polyphony question with that information?

Can keyboard be easily taken off stand for portability when needed..ie: grab and go?
Mary M
on Sep 29, 2021
BEST ANSWER: By looking at the manual it appears that the keyboard is screwed into the stand with a support piece across the bottom. The keyboard itself is self contained. So basically yes it appears the keyboard can be quasi-easily taken off the stand for portability. Just keep a screwdriver handy and don't bump into the stand when the keyboard isn't on it because the keyboard contributes to the rigidity of the stand.

Can you describe the feel of the keys? I know they are semi weighted, but semi weighted varies.

BEST ANSWER: It is no comparison compared to an acoustic piano or a higher-end digital, but in my opinion, is satisfactory for the price range of the piano. This was purchased for students to use for practicing for their lessons, and as a backup to have available for a lesson if needed. I wouldn't purchase it for performance use or as the primary instrument for lessons.

Is this a touch sensitive keyboard? Does pushing the keys harder produce a louder sound?
A shopper
on Nov 9, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the keyboard is touch sensitive. The dynamic range between pushing softly and hard is great. Also the semi-weighted keys are very effective in reproducing the feel of an acoustic piano. I highly recommend this instrument!

BEST ANSWER: I only play using a good set of earphones. I have hardly ever played without them so i can't really answer your question. But it's known that good earphones are better than most speakers any time. You will just get used to the sound of the set of speakers that you use.

Not bad for the price
For the price, this piano does what it's supposed to do. The speakers are not the greatest but for children or beginners, it will work just fine. It only comes with the one plug-in pedal, not your typical three pedals on pianos. This piano allows you to change up the sounds to other things like organ and guitar, although they sound off and muffled with the speakers that come on this piano.
The piano itself was extremely easy to assemble. I did it by myself in under 30 minutes. It was damaged during shipping, the wooden stand is chipped in several areas and one piece is split completely in two, but the keyboard itself does not appear to have been damaged.
We bought this because our 12 year old loves to press on piano keys. She is cognitively delayed and nonverbal, so she doesn't play with toys, but she will sit and press on piano keys for hours a day. So far she approves of her new keyboard.

Wow!
For time, I have 88 touch sensitive keys in my home! And the Full GM MIDI instrument set has well! I read some concerns about the quality of the speaker but at this price point, a MIDI controller (with no audio) that perform like this is a steal. But it HAS sound. Mono, to sure, but seriously, I paid a "monoprice" for it. And I have chorus and reverb in my house to make it into stereo. To my ear, if you play at apartment level, the sound of speakers are fine.

OVERALL - this keyboard is well worth the money!!
The sound and feel when playing is totally fine. No it does not sound or feel as good as a $2000.00 Yamaha, But it sounds Great for the price. You can also play through headphones, which make it sound even better depending on the HP

Not bad especially for the price. Was missing hardware so I had to improvise. The speakers are 100% garbage. They sound terrible. Overall it's a nice set up and my kids enjoy except for the sound.
