Does it have a headphone jack?
A shopper
on Nov 27, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does. It has 2 headphone jacks that take the larger plug, like the ones that plug into guitars. You may have to buy a adapter. I got mine on amazon for like 10 bucks.

The simple answer is YES. More accurately the answer is that it has TWO 1/4 inch headphone jacks.

It does have a headphone jack but the port looks like it’s meant for studio headsets.

What size are the keys? Like a traditional piano? The description says, "uses 140mm standard keys (7/8ths of traditional keys) " which doesn't make any sense. 140mm is 5.5 inches. The text says the keys are standard then that they're 7/8 traditional which again makes no sense. Could someone please take a ruler to their keyboard and tell me how wide theirs are? Thanks a lot.

Monoprice 88-key Digital Piano with Semi-weighted Keys and Built-in Speakers

Monoprice 88-key Digital Piano with Semi-weighted Keys, Built-in Speakers, and Wooden Stand
BEST ANSWER: the 140mm stands for the width of an octave or 12 keys. The 12 keys includes 8 white keys and 4 black keys. Standard width of an octave on a full size 88 key piano is 164mm. Therefore the 140mm octave width of the mono-price keyboard is about 7/8 of a full size piano. the actual width of the white keys is .76 inches on monoprice keyboard and a standard keyboard is .875 inches

the total keyboard width from outside to outside keys is 47 1/8" - that's only 7/8 shorter than on my Grinell Bros. upright grand acoustic piano. The whole unit is 50 3/4" at the back, it's widest point.

I’m not anywhere near mine to measure, but the keys are not as wide as a piano. There is also no semblance of hammer action whatsoever.

Has anyone tried this? How does it sound and how do the keys feel?
Paul B
on Sep 29, 2021
BEST ANSWER: It sounds pretty good. NOt as good as my expensive roland, but 80% as good. This is really a learning tool more than a stage piano. It has the full General Midi sound set so you can pick from various pianos. The key have NO weighted action whatsoever - they are the lightest synth action ever. Running it out through a keyboard amp improved the sound some.

ok but....
the keys felt alittle sloppy. not really like weighted keys and the esponse was not the best... it did track and play sounds well.. i did not check out the midi response as the keyboard action was a primary decision maker for me... but there were many good features, split keys, transposing, etc..

Great Value starter
Excellent starter keyboard for piano, might not be the best but it is a great way to start with.

Good value. Not perfect
It is described as having semi-weighted keys, but they are not weighted at all. They are spring loaded keys. The sustain is a little longer than I would like. That being said, it is a great price for an 88 key electric piano. USB-MIDI interface is welcome and works well.

Not what I had hoped.
I understand this is a budget keyboard, but I believe it?s one huge flaw is the touch/velocity control.
The only velocity setting that makes this thing remotely playable is OFF.
Other than that it has a decent feature set.
I had hoped this would make a good practice keyboard for my office, but I?ll have to keep looking.. I will donate it to a school or church for beginners to learn with. Not a huge loss considering the price.

Perfect for learning to play piano.
So far it works great, I bought it to learn to play because it links into my mac1 mini. I am happy with my purchase.

Atrocious keyboard
The keys feel fine, but the velocity is absolute whack. The difference in sound between hitting the keys normally and anything harder than that is extreme, and the onboard sounds are awful which only exacerbate this issue. Also, the onboard sound samples themselves are of incredibly poor quality, no matter what audio output device I use the audio is peaking or otherwise sounds terrible. Maybe if you only need a full size midi controller you could buy this, but even still there?s many better options.

Good for learning or practice.
This is a cool piece of gear.
The sounds are ok. Good, not Great.
I've never had a digital piano at ANY price point that sounded or felt like a real one. This is better than what you're going to see at costco in their Xmas instrument aisle.
I fell it's good enough. If you are looking to play this professionally, it might not be rich enough sounding for a piano bar. It's been great for band practice.
If you've ever practiced on a small scale keyboard and then found you were missing keys or hurting your hand stretching - this full size keyboard will help tremendously. It's less than an inch smaller across the whole keyboard than my upright grand piano - so that's less than 1/88th smaller per key!
The action is terrible - totally whiffy - I couldn't discern any weighting at ALL ( - 1 star ) - and I would gladly pay monoprice twice as much for a truly weighted version.
It has the General midi set of sounds built in, but to access them is a confusing layout of holding the function button and trying to remember which key stands for what digit in the 3 digit code you need to input. It's a bit of a nightmare, and I've had to put tape on the keys and mark them in sharpie.
( -1 star )
Where this instrument TRULY shines is as an instructional tool.
It comes with TWO headphone outs, and you can split the keyboard in half - so a student and teacher hear each other and can practice silently in an apartment. With more of us working from home, this is a big plus too! It's given me a side hustle with lessons now.
Really, I rate this 4 stars as a learning keyboard. I hope monoprice comes out with a more advanced version with a bonus GREAT piano sound and heavy weighted keys ( Heavy action would beat the competition. Why try to just be as good! )
I'd also like to see a case or bag for this too.
Oh - I should add it's very lightweight, and the way it's molded on the bottom gives you lots of ways to carry it.

Works and looks as advertised
You may not see a rack of buttons above the keyboard but don't let that confuse you, they are accomplished via the function button and the well marked piano keys. The semi-weighted keyboard is just that, SEMI ("Touch" 0-3-stage adjustable hit). One key is very slightly height misaligned, very slight, has no effect on playing. You get USB midi out so you can use it with any midi software. It finds it's own driver but you need midi software for more than just the general midi voices. They need to up the price and offer a package deal with software to make this a really good deal.
