No, the mic does not include a cord. You should also know the mic connectors are too close together making it nearly impossible to connect cord and stand. I had to connect the cord and then screw the mic on the stand. When I contacted Monoprice about the issue, they responded by agreeing with me and then calling the issue resolved. If you purchase this really great looking heavy mic, you may need to consider the possibility of returning it. I have mine attached to a chrome Atlas stand, and that's where it will stay.

Just a thought: I have the Shure Super55 and have now ordered the Monoprice Memphis. In order to avoid the screw-in mic stand set-up and the XLR cable interference (which is also true with the Shure Super55) I purchased the On-Stage QK-2b mic stand Quik-release. I highly recommend these for anyone for any mics. This creates comfortable clearance for the XLR cable, and eliminates the need for un-screwing and re-screwing the mic stand over and over.

No cord. Most stands have a tighting ring and you might have to remove it to attach to a stand so the cable will mate. According to how big the ring is. I have mine on short boom and the ring didn’t keep it from plugging in. But on another I had to remove the ring.

What connector is needed to plug from the mic to an amplifier?
A shopper
on Dec 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This mic uses a standard XLR connector. If you're using it as a vocal mic, you'll probably be plugging it in to a mixer (which should have both XLR *and* 1/4" jacks). You do NOT need an XLR-to1/4" adapter unless the only input jack you have available is a 1/4" jack. If there's an XLR jack open, that's what you want to use - much better to go balanced (XLR) than unbalanced (1/4").

You need an XLR to 1/4 inch cable or you can get a XLR to 1/4 adapter. I am sure Monoprice sells one they make excellent cables & adapters just search in cables on there site. I bought one awhile back they are built well & have gold plating . You may need a 20 db pad for your mic also if your going through a mixer. I have the Memphis Blues mic, it has a very nice quality sound. Hope I was of some help.

The microphone has a standard XLR male connector. A regular mic cable (Monoprice ones are pretty good) will work. If your looking to use it as a harp mic, You'll need an adapter from XLR to 1/4 in to plug it into something like a guitar amp.

I use a standard 3 pin XLR on each end as my professional mixer has XLR inputs. If you use it with 1/4" inputs you'll need an XLR to 1/4" plug. It all depends on what your input takes as to which end you'll need. Its common sense!

You’d have to use a line transformer adapter to go from a XLR male on your mic cable (amp end) to a 1/4” Phone plug TRS (like your guitar plug) going into the amp.

This type of mic will need to be screwed into the top of the boom stand directly. You'll need to remove the arm off of the boom stand in the picture, otherwise it'll tip over.

The base of the Memphis Blue microphone body has a female 5/8"-27 UNS special fine pitch threaded hole, for microphone to boom / stand attachment. The Memphis Blue also comes with (1) Monoprice #602000, which is a male 5/8"-27 UNS to female 3/8"-16 BSW reducer. Typically in the USA, microphones, their stands, and their adapters are 5/8"-27 UNS. The 3/8"-16 BSW ( British Standard Whitworth ) is uncommon in the U.S., but is commonly used in the rest of the world.

BEST ANSWER: I bought as a gift. But it is- heavy cast. I personally (as mechanic/engineer) would try to search manufacturer. Sometimes you can find a parts “exploded view” diagram, you can back engineer.
If your going to take it apart- you might as well become an expert at it. Even if you have to contact the manufacturer, sometimes they are willing to provide to keep you a loyal customer.

No, I think they kept costs down by eliminating hardware. There are no visible screws on the body of the microphone, and it appears to be glued shut. (There are screws on the on-off switch). I could not easily pry apart the two halves of the shell with hand pressure alone.

Doesn’t appear to be a way to get at the insides without prying it open where the two metal halves come together. Very good mic for the cost. Sounds good but you need to be up close to be picked up. Adding additional dampening material would only make it worse.

BEST ANSWER: It is not a condenser, it's a dynamic mic. It works well in the studio and will work with your interface no problem. It's a very clean and clear sounding mic, but also a bit thin sounding. Also you will want a pop filter with this mic as it does pop fairly easily on plosives.

This mic is not a condenser, it is a dynamic like the Shure SM55H. It does not require Phantom Power. It is compatible with any audio interface that has mic-level inputs or preamps. I'd get the 600800 large diaphragm condenser for your studio.

Can I use this with either 602520 or 602530 stands? Which microphone cord do I need?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: The mic should be compatible with both stands. It screws directly into the mic stand, so if you want to be able to pick it up, you might want a quick-release adapter. Also, it is *massive* and looks a little bit comically oversized. I'm personally into it, but don't expect something the size of a shure 55sh, it's like 1.5 times that size at least. It uses a standard xlr cable.

BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure what O-Ring you are referring to? There are two circular opening in the bottom. The one closer to the front of the Mic is the mount. It come with an adapter which lets you mount it on a lighting stand or tripod sized screw, it easily comes out and the larger hole is the standard Microphone stand sized thread. The hole closer to the back is a standard XLR male connector for connecting to your audio equipment.

I recently purchased the Memphis Blue Classic Dynamic Microphone and have found, like one of the other reviewers, that there is quite a bit of noise with plosives and breathing/wind. Are there any solutions to help reduce this noise? Can one include additional noise filter inside the housing - and if so, what material is recommended?

What thread size is the mount on the bottom of this mic, once you take the adapter out? It looks almost like a standard 3/8 to 5/8, 27 threads per inch adapter, but a regular 5/8, 27 TPI arm will not screw into it. Looks like the threads are finer or smaller than typical for US.

Blue color disappears
After less than a year, the blue color is 100% gone from the foam in the mic. The appearance was the only reason I bought this over an sm7b and the color started fading after a few months. Now it's an ugly, dull grey.
Audio is fine, I guess. But the mic is sold on its style.

Shiny, True to Style
It's not an SM58, it's not a Shure, it's a great little microphone once you learn it's weaknesses. Any chrome mic is for show, this one has little to stop plosives but with an angle to the mic, you'll like it once you find the sweet spot.

Beautiful mic that didn?t work well for live band performance .
It is a beautiful mic that weighed 2 lbs 6 oz. I think it might work for a sit-down, casual talk/podcast type of mic. I wanted it for live performance and because it Popped really badly when I got close enough to get a decent sound out of the PA, it picked up all kinds of mic stand noise from just moving around on stage and the switch Popped really loudly when activated. I returned the mic as it was useless to me for a live band situation.
