Is this the same as a rocket fish subwoofer cable?
    A shopper on Jun 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The male side is a 3.5mm cable. I think that a typical subwoofer cable would have and RCA Male in place of a 3.5 MM male. the 3.5mm is the size that is typical on cell phones for earphones.

Great value, high quality cable build
I'm using 2 of these cables. I have one running from my Xbox 360 into my PC Audigy 2 sound card. Then I have the 2nd one running out of the Audigy 2 and into my Aiwa stereo receiver. Even with looping the sound like this, I still have zero noise interference or hum. These cables are incredible, I highly recommend.

I would like to note that the 3.5mm plugs are very large in diameter. So large that it's not possible to plug 2 of them next to each other in the back of a PC sound card without filing some of the thumb grip down so it's flat. I used a table grinder to file the thumb grip ridges flat, taking my time so as to not file too much off. After both 3.5mm plugs were filed flat, I could then stick them together on the back of my sound card, side by side.

    Not as advertised
Disappointed. Badly thought out, poorly advertised, and cheaply made product. Literally not worth my time to replace. Had a very good impression of Monoprice up until this point. But they literally don't offer a single alternative to these, so I am forced to look elsewhere now. Kept getting the impression that their products were cheaply made, but they always seemed at least functional. These aren't even that. Guess I'll have to pay the premium for some PROPER cables.

PROS: They look and feel like decent quality cables. Thick and meaty. That's about it.

CONS: RCA connectors are insanely tight to the point of possible damage to electronics. Connection boards are a printed PCB like anything else. They are not that strong. There is no excuse for this, as the cheapest RCA cables I own don't have this issue. Also, the tines on the RCA connectors are cheap pot metal with zero flex that snaps off with very little force. You literally cannot spread the tines for a proper fit without breaking them. Effectively useless as they can damage your electronics and there is no way to remedy that without destroying the connectors. Why is this the best cable that Monoprice offers? You'd think their "premium" cables would be made of better materials than cheap, Chinese potmetal.

Also, this is directly advertised and described as ideal for connecting your PC to your receiver. This is completely impossible as the casing of the 3.5mm TRS connectors is way too fat to have these plugged in next to eachother. They are absolutely useless for PC audio without some sort of extension or splitter, which completely eliminates the point of buying thick, shielded cables.

    Response from Monoprice
    Hi Jeff,

Truly sorry to hear PID 5599 didn't work out for your needs. If you would like I can set up an RMA for a replacement to see if that will work better for you, or for a return should you no longer have a need for the cable. We do offer a 30 day return policy as well as a one year warranty on this item. Obtaining a replacement will be of no additional cost to you. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Thank you for your patience and understanding in the matter.

All I need to say is this should be a $15 cable for the quality it is! That should explain everything lol

PROS: Amazing build quality and sound!
    Has good interference shielding.

CONS: Can't think of any except that the 8th inch connector is a little bulky.

    Wonderful Product

PROS: These things are massive, the cable gauge is about as big as anyone would ever need. Gold plated connectors and tight tolerances give the connectors a secure fit with minimal wiggle.

CONS: The 3.5mm jack is massive. Not something I needed to worry about, but something to take into consideration. Running two of these next to each other, i.e. - a microphone and adjacent headphone port in the back of a PC, would be impossible.

I ordered 3.5 mm stero male to RCA cable and the red RCA plug did not fit properly to my mating connector. I sent them a request for RMA and they did not require me to return the bad cable but they shipped me a free replacement cable. Thanks.

PROS: Great response. Good customer service.

    CONS: None

High Quality Product, Cheapest price around!
This company sells awesome, high quality products. Can't believe it's so cheap. Signed up for a Neftlix account and wanted to watch movies from my macbook pro on my 42" LCD TV. This cable, as well as an optical Toshlink cable for the sound (laptop to receiver for surround sound) did the trick. Got them both for under $10 and am now enjoying streaming good quality movies in my home, and high quality sound from my iTunes. Thanks Monoprice!

These cables are a lot thicker than you'd imagine from the pictures. The head is much wider than the top of my iphone. I would buy the next step down if buying again.

PROS: very very very stout. no chance of breaking under normal use

    CONS: overkill
