This thing is awesome, super sturdy and customization.. Just be prepared to either place some tape or rubber gasket on the clamps that hold the monitors. The tension between the horizontal metal poles and the clamps is not enough to prevent slippage. Wish Monoprice just included them with the kit.
So several reviews point out that you can tighten the bolts enough to make the horizontal bars stop rotating. Not true. You can keep tightening various bolts, but the horizontal bars keep rotating, so your monitors keep drooping.
PROS: Fairly inexpensive, I guess?
CONS: Horizontal bars refuse to stop rotating. Bolt holes not designed to guide hex key, so using a hex key blind is really irritating.
I'm 6'4" and I have a standing desk, so all other mounts are just too short for me. This unit seemed like overkill at first but it turned out to be perfect. I've cleared away so much space on my desk, and my posture has improved so much that I'm throwing away my old plastic monitor stands.
PROS: Sturdy construction and excellent height range. Mounting brackets are removable in case you want to mount fewer than 4 monitors.
CONS: On one of the mounting brackets, the one screw that attaches the swivel head to the bracket was very loose and required tightening. I recommend checking EVERY bolt and screw on this assembly when you install it.
Great for intended purpose, very solid. Amazing price compared to other mounts out there. Well worth dealing with the cons. I gave a 9 only because of the design issue, such a simple fix on the drawing board.
PROS: Holds 4 monitors, VERY sturdy, plenty of extra mounting screws.
CONS: Reviews are correct, to get the crossbars to stay in position you need some JBWeld. Once glued in though, works great. Definitely a design fail. Including the size of the mount and monitors, you will lose a good 8-10 inches of desk space. But that is what it is, not an issue with a deep desk.
I ended up returning the stand for the reason listed in the Cons. If the crossbar had a notch at the end that would lock it into the receiver, there would be no problems. I read the reviews before buying and was aware this was an issue, but I was unable to make it work.
PROS: This stand is sturdy and well built. It has a lot of freedom for monitor placement and adjustment.
CONS: I could not get the top crossbar tightened enough to stay in place. I hand tightened both sides as much as possible without using a extension or breaker bar on the allen wrench with no luck.
Great quality, very adjustable, 24" monitors beware...
Overall, I love this mount. The quality is exceptional, and I got more than enough screws (not sure what people were complaining about). I bought this mount to put up two monitors. I liked the fact that my two monitors would rest on the same cross bar, thus making them level and not have to worry about one arm drooping over another like the typical single-mast-dual-mount.
It takes a while to adjust and get the two monitors to line up, stick out, and tilt at the same angles. There are so many adjustments that it makes this task quite difficult to do. I ended up locking some of the adjustments up front on both sides to reduce the degrees of freedom.
Also, my 24" monitors started to droop after a day because I apparently was too afraid of over-tightening that I didn't tighten all the way. I wish the crossbars had ridges in them so that the mount clamps can snap into them to prevent rotation on that axis. I wrap some rubber tape on the crossbar where the clamp goes to create some friction it helps.
Once mounted (correctly), the monitors are damn snug won't even budge, bounce, or droop. It's amazing.
PROS: Price is great for such a quality mount. Sturdy ~1.75" (Outside diameter) poles with sturdy clamps. Many many degrees of freedom for micro-adjustments.
CONS: Many many degrees of freedom for micro-adjustments means it can take you a long time to get it "just right." I ended up just pre-locking some of the adjustment screws before mounting to get the monitors to line up. Need to really tighten all screws so that monitor stays put. They tend to start drooping (rotate on the cross-bar) after a day.
Very easy to assemble, recommend two man team for assembly and small adjustments - it will go MUCH faster the better you have planned. The extra hands help when your measurements weren't quite accurate ). Very Please with the end result - product will EASILY outlast most desk and chairs and monitors, hope to be using it for many years to come no matter the "upgrades" to my office environment.
PROS: VERY sturdy, EXCEPTIONAL quality. Professional appearance.
CONS: If you only have two hands - it can be time consuming to get the perfect setup. Nature of the Beast type problem, Planning ahead HIGHLY recommended.
This item was surprisingly well built. I was anticipating something with a few thin metal pieces and some plastic interconnects. To my surprise everything is made from quality steal or aluminum components with nice screws that don't look like they'll strip out from accidental over tightening. It does take a little bit to put all the pieces together and have all the monitors hung and aligned but overall I get nothing but great comments about it and really enjoy the quality. The mount is super stable attached to the desk, even when forcibly trying to wiggle it. If I could get some more of the swivel mounts I could see attaching more displays to this thing and it being capable. I currently have 2 22" displays on the bottom and a 24" and a 20" on top. Since you can slide the swivel mounts to the edges of the poles you could easily get 3 20" monitors on each row. Great item.
PROS: Real metal, nice powder coat finish. Really well built. Extremely stable. Good components and build quality.
CONS: May have to buy additional screws to attach swivel mount to displays, depending on your displays. Not enough swivel mounts, I could see this being capable of supporting more than 4 monitors.
